Think I'm leaning towards a 3rd party interface via USB2. Wouldn't be needing massive amounts of i/o's.
The only thing I'm still not sure of is the latency issue....

OK, so if I don't get a (used) Native PCI card, is it safe, in so far as latency is concerned, to go with a newer interface (Dangerous, Crane Song, Apogee, etc.) directly via USB?

Did you have a dual start-up drive (Mavericks for PT 10 & another with Sierra or above for PT 11 or above)?

Just upgraded (from HD3 Accel) to Ultimate (2019.12) & deciding whether to go Native & use a card (with existing Digi 192) or just get another interface & go directly to USB.

Isn't the Dante Virtual Soundcard software based & not a physical "internet card" per se ... and that it runs (talks to) interface via ethernet (Cat 5 or 6) cable?

What do mean?
That it "doesn't run at full speed", "that don't run at full capable speed" & therefore is not reliable or has latency?

Then why would all these companies go full-in on Dante?

Anyone using DANTE via ethernet cable for Native?

I know it's limited to 32 tracks simultaneously but if one is in the box & only needs 2 to mix it's irrelevant.

The latest, you mean Mojave with 2019.6 on my machine? Doesn't it need a special video card?


BTW, if using Native, I can not use any existing Avid hardware like HD I/O or 192?

Just bought PT Ultimate & it includes 11, 12, 2018, 2019 (.5 & .6).


Still using a Mac Pro 5,1 (12 core cheese grater) 3.46/64.


Will continue tracking on 1 drive with PT 10 HD on Mavericks...
