Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

Wow. Sorry to hear this. Maybe I'll just get single m.2 ssd pcie card. Not the dual switching model like the Crest.

Re: New computer, a couple of error messages...

Also check in protools workspace. Make sure drive is set to record and playback. If it's not a permissions issue from previous post.

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

Only true tech geeks care about this for protools. I don't think protools will use 5 percent of the bandwidth of these things.

I want I want. I'll wait for the transfer bug to be fixed 1st...

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

I read that the hollywood movie people use these pcie blades for backup after a day of shooting. Apparently they are praising Jesus , Buddha, and Allah for these things.

Re: All lights flashing on my D-Command

There is a d control maintenance manual online. It has all the info. But doesn't list part numbers. Just how to fix everything.

Re: Best Word Clock Generator ….."Rock Around The Clock©"

I think for a single device let it clock itself. If multiple different vendors etc I can see the value of a master clock. If just avid I don't see the need. I read an article from one of those...

Re: Little utility to delete session backups (Mac)

I'm not insinuating anything. I pointed out that your app could help with that. Not in a clinical medical sense because I'm not a doctor. But simply like I stated. A solution looking for a...

Re: Little utility to delete session backups (Mac)

If you notice the utility "delete protools preferences" is a staple for a lot of users for years. Your utility is a solution for a problem that does not now exist. In fact it can potentially be...

Re: Maximum width of Edit Window?

I have done something similar to Native Instruments maschine plug in app window. You open some library file in text edit. (Css file?) Change the default min max window size in pixels. Save. And...

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

I think the installer disk image needs to be on a SATA internal disk for the update install. I'm researching updating to mojave as well with one of these m.2 setups.

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

I think so. I was having computer freezes. My hdx was in slot 2. He (or another mod) told me to use slot 3. Fixed my issue. I have since then always used slot 3. I even put the eb7 pcie card...

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

Also the mod from Sweden told me to use slot 3 for hdx. It helped in the past with 9073 errors in the cheese grater.

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

Put it all in and see how it works. Won't break.
Also I have 2 rigs. One has the magma pcie card in slot 3. The other has a single hdx card in slot 3.

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

I think hdx is only a 2 or 4 lane card? Doesn't need the 16 lane slot.

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

No problem. I found a bunch on amazon. Also some youtube videos of guys doing this. It's great we can still do all this modding of our 5 1 towers.

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

Still pretty fast compared to standard ssd on pcie. Interesting. Those nvme non switching pcie cards are cheap. For protools and audio storage that is probably the way to go.

Also what model...

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

Ok... another question. What if I use a non switching pcie card with 1 m.2 drive in a x4 slot. Is it still much better than a pcie card with a regular ssd on it?
