Re: Can I automate a plugin setting?

What I would do is....put 2 of the plugins on the track. On the first one, create the setting for the Verse. Automate the Master bypass for the plug so it's only engaged during the verse. On the...

Re: Need lessons in Pro tools 10 (win)

No need to pay anyone. Search on youtube. There's plenty of free advice out there. What specifically are you trying to do?

Re: Newbie Needs Help Please

The VIs are included as a seperate install. You should have the PT installer, and an installer for the virtual instruments.

Re: Trying for about 2 months (!) to get this running

Hi, Jon. You're not gonna want to hear this, but 5400rpm is usually a show stopper. At least 7200rpm is the way to go.

A "green" drive is any drive marketed as eco-friendly or power-saving. While...

Re: Trying for about 2 months (!) to get this running

Your Sandra lists one harddrive. Do you have a seperate drive dedicated to your sessions? If so, what type? Avoid green drives. WD Caviar Black are great.

Re: tempo on midi track

Hi, Dath. Are you sure the bass isn't just playing 16th notes? I'm not familiar with the song but it's usually not the norm for bass and drums to have drastically different tempos, since, you know,...

Re: Deleted Files from Browser

Yeah, I always choose "remove" instead of delete. The first time I saw that message (and I'm paraphrasing, here) "you sure you want to delete? REALLY sure?...gone FOREVER, and ever, and...

Re: help with getting that dance song bass sound

I've had success with duplcating the track, and then putting Amplitube SVX on there. Under the stompbox section there's an octave pedal. Blend it in to taste. Super-subs!

Re: Disk Allocation Templates in Pro Tools 10

For me, recording to so many drives seems like it could end up in a headache. But that's just my take.

Re: pt10 templates

Yup. Create a new session called "template," go to File--->Import Session Data, find the session you would like to use as your template, select which tracks, routing, I/O to use, etc.

Re: just installed pro tools cant hear anything

Also, if you could hear it when it was recorded, but not on playback, make sure you click the record-arm button to stop it from blinking red, or else you won't hear it on playback.

We all...

Re: drum/cymbal libraries with mallets

I know you're using BFD, BUT, with SD2 you can choose whether you want to use sticks or mallets on any of the drums/cymbals. Works ok.

Re: Drum Effect

That's easy. Take a sample as a quarter note, set the grid to quarter notes, highlight the sample and duplicate as many times as you want. Then, slice the sample into 8ths, set the grid to 8ths,...

Re: A Dull sound in Protools SE for VO's

Lots of reasons why a dull/dead sound can occur. High on the list would be your room, mic type/pre, monitoring environment, etc. An EQ can help tame some frequencies, but it certainly isn't a...

Re: Simple MASTER FADER question, likely answered before

I hardly ever use the master fader. Instead, create a stereo aux and buss all of the tracks/subgroups to it.

Mono tracks----->Stereo...phasing

Let's see if you've ever experienced this.

A client sent me his song to mix, really cool sounding modern rock/almost metal track to work on. The problem is that he bounced everything as stereo...

Hi, Terry. It should be the same process, regardless of which audiosuite effect you're using. "Highlight" the part of the track you wish to process. Go to audiosuite, select the effect, "preview" to...

Re: Going crazy over sound-quality in PT vs Logic

Right. I think our Logic buddy needs to learn the difference between perceived loudness from normalizing, and actually properly mastering a song.

Re: Going crazy over sound-quality in PT vs Logic

Like many functions, "normalize" can serve a purpose. Normalizing your 2-track bounce is absolutely not one of those purposes.

Re: Background vocals question

FYI...there's a 15 day trial of Vocalign Pro (works on 9.03, not sure about 10 as I haven't upgraded yet). Once you get the hang of it, it works like a charm. Sort of like Elastic, but zero...

Quick question. I've taken your advise and finally got the kid to agree to me tuning the background vocs (sounding better). I've been aligning with Elastic Audio, which is ok, but a bit time...

Re: MIDI converting 16th to 8th notes

Same theory applies, just select the whole track. The good thing about 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, etc is that they are all divisible by 2.

Or, you could just cut the tempo in half to 60BPM. I know there are...

Re: MIDI converting 16th to 8th notes

Whole song or just a section?

Easiest way is to go to Grid mode, make sure the grid is in the correct note value (8th notes for example). Highlight all of the 16th notes, use the ] tool and drag...
