So guys.
an update on my 002 units that had blown FireWire chips!!!

I've ordered 3 new chips from China at a price of $11!

Found a guy that will do the intricate soldering (68 pins per chip)...

"AT LAST"!!

Ok! For future reference!

After much detective work I have got to the bottom of this crazy problem!

It was in fact the FireWire connecter at the back of the PC!

Yep!
Would have said power harness on my 002!
But have bought another! Surely not that unit also!!!!!
Besides when I plugged the new unit up, it worked straight away!
