I have no idea what he did aside from uninstalling the driver, performing a special restart of my macbook and reinstalling the driver...wish I could be more specific, sorry!

Problem solved! I just purchased a support code and called in. Avid was on the phone with me for about 30min. I let them take over my system remotely and he managed to uninstall the drivers and...
