Yes, if I change the brightness settings to anything but 0 it distorts. Also, another odd problem is that when I change the brightness up or down I get the Color Wheel of Death for about 5 seconds...

I actually just tried something and it seamed to fix the problem I'm having. Maybe someone could explain why this fixed the issue.

Turning the brightness level down to 0 under preferences.
