We returned ours for a refund from the dealer, after nearly a year of no response from Avid. And I have seen no evidence since that any solutions to the multitude of issues will ever be offerered.

Not sure I'm understanding, but as far as the edit it seems a crossfade would take care of any 'tick'. Have you tried highlighting the edit and selecting fades from the menu?

There are many differences in the spec for USB 2.0 that makes it less desirable for audio work than FW. But the unfortunate way that FW is not a part of the Windows OS the way it is in the Mac OSX...
