hi everybody,
is there anybody using protools as a tracks recorder and mixing down through a soundcraft ts24 (or a similar board)?
i think that the 888's default output level (-18db) is too high...

it should be a sort of maximizer to be used to increase loudness of the mix or master....
there's a demo on the sony site.

1) channelstrip (ssl-produceher settings)
to add a light compression to the mix
2) TCmasterX
levelling the program (not pushing it to much)

L2 is what you need to increase loudness without distortion. I don't like C4 a lot, sometimes i use it before L2 just to compress in a very gentle way..

Arno, try L2 instead of L1, you'll be able to increase average level 2db more without distortion..

i always have Reason linked to protools.
i use it for drums programming, loops, synths and samples playing.
Black & white, Unity DS1 are good tools too.

concerning monitoring your system you could get a DAW control monitor unit such as M3A from Coleman Audio. It's a good way to control volume for your speaker's amp.

mmm....so the aux busses would receive 24bit data from audio tracks against master faders that get 48bit data from them?
If this is correct that's really a pity....then i'll try to avoid an aux...

this is what i think about this matter:
digital summing process is totally different from analog one.
they are numbers not electric signal that overload, numbers can't get a clip...
