Setup > Preferences >Operation > Transport Record Lock

Now you have to only prime record once, and it will record each time you are goint into PLAY.

If it's about getting the wrong trim tool with the keyboard command F6, there's a solution:
There are dedicated commands for Standard/Loop/TCE/Scrub Trim tools in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog....

KeyScope (https://felixrost.de/keyscope-keyboard-hotkeys-for-pro-tools/) uses macOS Accessibility (but not via AppleScript, which is slow).
There's currently no release planned, I'm waiting for more...

I have no direct answer, but: If there is a Keyboard Shortcut in Pro Tools available you can assign a Key Command in Eucon to those keys.

I have been working on a helper app that can do this called KeyScope (https://felixrost.de/keyscope).
It can speed up things a lot, as you can have hotkeys to targeted or named AudioSuite plugins...

Unfortunately you can't do it in Pro Tools / AAX.

You are right that this should be a built-in option.

If you are using an RME interface that supports TotalMix, you could also use "Auto-Mute" of my helper app ControlPilot...

Input mode would have been my first suspect too. The Audiosuite channel configuration often changes to mono for some reason.
