Re: “Pro Tools.app” is damaged and can’t be opened.

Ctrl-right click (Mac M1, Ventura) then select "Open" from the drop down list, then "Open" in the ensuing error message worked.

Redownloading and reinstalling did not prevent OSX from thinking...

Re: Pro tools 12.8 or 12.9 . . .

My personal midi wishlist. Feel free to add requests to this list.

Key commands to recall CC lanes views in the midi editor (lane view selector).

Re: Pro tools 12.8 or 12.9 . . .

Yes, please. And fix the notation editor so it doesn't try to display every midi track in the project whenever it is first opened - just the one selected.

And not to derail this thread, but...

12.6 - bounce - drag midi to audio track - poor quality

Dragging a midi clip to an audio track to auto-bounce a VI results in grainy audio quality. It really sounds bad.

Is there a setting that impacts this function that I'm not aware of?

Re: Pro Tools 12.7

Bob, complexity isn't the main reason - just a lesser contributing factor.

I've watched very simple bugs, that development teams have confirmed, go unaddressed for years, literally (not just...

Re: Pro Tools 12.7

Only in the audio industry are bugs fixes determined by popular opinion.

In the tech world, you fix anything you can because you can't afford to wait until your biggest clients find a...

Re: Pro Tools 12.7

No problems with plugins here (that I haven't solved by removing said plugin - and that has been only one so far, Flux Verb).

I have reported two major bugs with ProTools 12.5.2 since I upgraded...

Re: Switching from Mac to Win, PT12

12.5.2 runs well here on Windows 8 (should be the same on 10). ProTools 12 runs rather efficiently for VIs compared to past versions (10 and earlier) and competes with other DAWs there now.

Re: Score editor glitch?

I haven't seen the problem you are describing (yet), but will test it next week. My first guess would be a notation display-quantize setting that isn't working accurately, but it could very well be a...

Re: CPU overload solutions?

Excellent - thank you! This solved spiking for me, so far at least. I will pass this along to Avid support (I have an open case on this very issue).

Re: Weird VI CPU spike workaround

Turning off Core0 in task manager for ProTools.exe affinity seems to have solved the cpu spiking for me.

Big thanks to user risey for that!

Re: Weird VI CPU spike workaround

I have had random jumps in total processing usage (PT's System meter - no correlation to task manager's cpu usage that I can see). Depending on the average load, the jump may be from 5% to 50%, or...

Re: Waveform Edit - pointer instead of pencil?

The aren't MXF, but that (or an mov container) was my first thought (all are wav files).

It turns out this was the only clip I couldn't edit, and ironically, the only one I needed to edit at...

Waveform Edit - pointer instead of pencil?

I am trying to edit a waveform in 12.5.2, but, with the pencil tool (set to freehand) enabled, when I zoom in, instead of the pencil tool turning yellow, it turns to a finger-pointer.

What am I...

Re: Pro Tools 12.7

+100

ProTools runs my scoring template with lower total cpu usage than Cubase/Nuendo, but the pops when stopping playback, and issues you mention are annoying and unsettling. It wouldn't take...

Re: Motu 2408MK2

I can't vouch for it on OSX, but 2408mkIIs work fine with ProTools 12.5.2 and 12.6 on PC/Windows 8 (two here). As long as MOTU has qualified the drivers for whatever version of OSX they move to, it...

Re: Making the Switch? 2016 MacBookPro vs Surface Pro.

It's the same risk as any laptop - a USB key hanging off the side, or in a USB hub is at more risk for breakage than one tucked away in the machine room.

As far as Windows performance - PT11HD...

Re: Making the Switch? 2016 MacBookPro vs Surface Pro.

I have a Surface Pro. I haven't tried ProTools on it yet because of the risk to my studio-critical iLok, but it should be perfectly fine. DP runs on the Surface Pro.

I would look at the Surface...

Re: Audio glitches when playback stops

I'm pretty sure it is tied to PDC and buffer handling in PT, so system specs are mostly irrelevant, but I have added more below.

Other DAW developers have worked to buffer and handle PDC to...

Audio glitches when playback stops

When I stop playback in my scoring template, I always get a glitch as if PT's output is making some buffer change (by contrast, other DAWs, are quite - only instruments with longer releases and...

Re: My feelings after spending another $399.00

Quite true. I'm about to plunk down the $1k for the re-join upgrade, but given the work coming in and need to work with other PT studios/editors in the coming year and beyond, it will more than pay...

Re: My feelings after spending another $399.00

Interesting thread. I am coming from the other direction - I've used other DAWs for years, including a year or two with PT a few years back, and am back with the PT11HD demo, considering upgrading...

Re: Using more than 16 Midi Ports ?

Ditto to nigelpry's response - the solution is multiple VEPro projects in one server instance. I have 6 projects on the host system in VEP6. Each can have up to 16 midi ports, 16 channels each. I...

Same performance there - DP has always been somewhat...

Re: Score editor - displays all tracks

The Score Editor isn't that big of a deal - it is helpful, but not always necessary. Scores end up in Sibelius for live anyway.

I do love DP for scoring, but it isn't very cpu efficient (9.12,...
