Re: S6L documentation and Avid website frustrations

And a sad commentary on a tech-ish company in the current century.

EAW and JBL both have their share of dead links and odd taxonomy but eventually you can find stuff. At least the live audio side...

Re: SC48 crashing into Backup mode

Hi Greg-

There should have been an error message prior to the recovery prompt message; the one we had was "critical system DSP error". If that sounds familiar the likely solution is to remove the...

Re: Avid venue profile schematic

I'm agreed with Kristo. Contact Avid Venue support via your local distributor, or email Venue support in the USA.

Re: SC48 Monitors

I'm not sure I understand the problem.

Where do the FX return now? One of the 8 stereo FX channels?

Select the return channel and use the Aux Sends to put the reverb in the IEM mixes. It's...

Re: Avid Profile Fader Bay Circuit Boards failing

That's typically a bad fader and not a bad driver board. IIRC there is enough slack on the ribbon cables from the driver boards to the fader boards that you can just swap the connection and see if...

Re: Waves workarounds

Ryan, I'm guessing that Waves will require the external Sound Grid server and will not run directly on the console?

Re: Waves 9 installation on Venue

Hi Ryan-

Yes, and yes. Waves has reached out and the plugs are installed. I believe it was corruption during extraction as starting over with the same USB drive and using the same USB port on...

Waves 9 installation on Venue

Waves makes it sound so simple: download the Waves 9 for Venue self-extracting executable, extract to the root of a USB drive and the console will see the plugs for installation.

Yeah, right. So...

Re: SC 48 Physical Memory Dump Blue Screen

We've replaced 1 spinning platter drive in our SC48 and the current drive is going on 3 years old. We're replacing it with SSD (Samsung EVO 840).

Updating Mixrack with solid state drive - questions

Greetings all-

After another spinning platter failure in our SC48 we've decided to upgrade to SS. For the SC48 it's simple as the mobo already uses SATA interface.

Not so happy for our...

Re: Venue software on MAC/Parallels

People in hell want ice water, too.

So either do boot camp, Parallels (with 16GB of memory), or buy a cheap Windows machine and call it a day. It's like buying a microphone - if you...

Re: Problem with SC48 and VNC

It was working, so unless there was a manual change of settings or a file got corrupted, it should still work. If this was a new configuration your advice would be 100%...

Re: my cranesong phoenix was stolen from me by ilok

What is Avid's business relationship with Pace/iLok? I suspect that Avid is an investor in Pace, or at least a customer with a majority customer base. I'd be asking the folks at Avid what hell...

Re: XP support going bye bye, new embedded OS in the works for Venue?

Greg, don't let your console surf the internet and you'll be all good. ;)

Re: multiple phantom power sources on passive splitters

Using properly wired cables and snakes you shouldn't have a problem with phantom power from 2 sources. Remember that any input that can have phantom power applied will tolerate "seeing" phantom...

Re: How close is the SC48 to the Profile with a MixRack as far as sound goes?

To further explain Kristo's comments -

The SC-48 and stock MixRack each come with 2 DSP cards. The SC-48 cannot be expanded. The MixRack can accommodate 1 additional DSP card for a total of 3. ...

Re: Profile dsp / mix engines

While booting the console, did you get any error messages? Of particular interest would be one about not finding the \user partition and substituting the \system partition instead. This is the...

Re: Drive size

I've not needed into a FOH rack, but I've replaced the drive in an SC48. I recall it was 40GB. I'd be surprised if the FOH rack drive is >120GB.

Have you had an opportunity to directly engage Pace and request an...

Re: SC48 Password Protection

You can't, not from the VENUE software. There are probably some work-arounds that involve restarting the console directly into Windows CE and locking the OS, but they aren't supported by AVID and...
