The point is that it was all working fine ... up to today!

I've always been able to drag files into a session from the desktop, that's what seems to have started the problem ...

... so am I...

If I could figure it out, I would have done so over the last four and half hours ...

I haven't changed anything with PT or the mac, and no one else uses it ... if the OS and PT were incompatible...

Thanks for your help .... I moved all of the plug ins to the unused folder ... on the seventh attempt I managed to open a new session, I created an audio track and dragged a audio file into it ......

I haven't changed anything, and all the plug ins I use are compatible (otherwise I presume they wouldn't work?) ... as I said I was working on the same session yesterday and now it either won't open...

Thanks, but as I wrote, it's been working fine for the last year or so ... why should it suddenly change now?

And why can I not import or drag a wav into the session?

Doesn't make sense though ..... if you can hear it you should be able to record it ....

I'm not noticing any latency while I'm actually playing, but then again I'm hearing more of the amp in the same room than the guitar in the headphones, so that's not the problem.... and I'm probably...

Thanks for the advice, I should say that I made a mistake with the time anomaly ..... it's 1/64th of the bar (not the beat), but it's still enough to be really annoying....

No plugins, no master track .... I'm just overdubbing guitars on a stereo backing track .....

... and doesn't Latency mean it would be late? The recorded track is 1/64th of a beat too early!
