Beat Detective Wackiness

Hey there folks.
I was just curious if anyone else has experienced Beat Detective acting strangely in 7.4.2. It seems as if the 'enhancing' of BD has left me a little confused. It does not seem to...

San Diego Audio Community/Pro Tools User Group

Hello all! I am moving to San Diego, CA next week. I will be engineering at Studio West and teaching Pro Tools at The Recording Arts Center. I was curious if there is any kind of pro audio community...

Re: 16 ch ProControl to 8 ch D Command

Have you ever used the D-Command? In my opinion, 8 D-Command faders are more useful than the full 48 on the Pro Control. I have been using Pro Control for years and just starting getting my hands on...

Re: Bounce file question

Bounce to Disk alone does not apply any dither. If you have a 24 bit session and bounce to 16 bits it will truncate. As the user, you get to choose which dither you want to use by inserting it as a...

Re: PT or manual broken WRT to 16bit dither on BTD

Hey Rich, nice tests.

Penny for your thoughts on some dither comparisons? Which dithers have you tested with this method?

Re: (COMP) Can\'t cut through all takes? New Bug?

I was teaching a PT class yesterday and the first class I taught, the separate worked on all of the takes. The next class I taught, it did not work. I did not change anything.

Glad to know I am...

Re: PT or manual broken WRT to 16bit dither on BTD

What kind of tests are you running to be sure that it is dithering? How can you look at a 16 bit file and determine whether it was dithered or truncated from 24 bits?

I'm not questioning you, I'm...

Re: CD Burning Software

Do you folks grade your CDR pre-masters before you send them out for duplication? We have a couple of the Clover Systems that scan for errors. We do not scan simple reference discs but we do not let...

CD Burning Software

Hello everyone. I was curious what everyone out there is using as their CD burning software. Do you analyze the discs before you send them out for duplication?

Right now we are using Jam and the...

Re: Export Regions as Files error ?!?

Ah yes, I have thought of this but instead of using Jam, I booted up in OS9 and tried Masterlist. That worked just fine so for now it could be the workaround.

How can you load regions into Jam? I...

I am working on some long operas and doing...

Re: Quick key command assigned to plug in instead of \'groups

There should be no key commands for any of the Audiosuite plug ins unless the user assigned them through the Preferences of the Mac. Go to your System Preferences, click on Keyboard and Mouse and...

Re: Digi--\"Bounce to disk\" vs bussing/recording to new st tr

When you export a file dither is applied ONLY if you lower the bit depth. Dither is not applied if you are only changing the sample rate simply because dither has nothing to do with Sample Rate...

Re: Could not allocate space for recording

It is also a good idea to check in the Workspace Browser which drives you have set to be record volumes (marked with an R in the A column).

Re: Beat detective woes - any ideas on conforming?

Make sure the Bar and Beats that define the selection are entered correctly in Beat Detective. In other words, if you are working on bars 5-9 but Beat Detective thinks you are on 1-5, you will be...

Re: anybody use playlists?

None of the above exists, unfortunately. The playlist is a very underused feature.

Make a new session, create your tracks, change every track to playlist .01, record all your takes, comp them to...

Re: dumb question - outboard insert delays

To measure delay outside of Pro Tools, just 'ping' the external device.

1- Turn delay comp on.
2- Send a transient signal (I use one click from the click track) to a Pro Tools output and route it...

Re: Edit Groups = ALL

In the Event menu is an window called 'Time Operations.' In that window, use Cut Time to remove time from a session including regions, markers, tempo events, etc.

Re: Is it me? Or does Digi D-ess blow away Waves?

What I like about the Ren-De-esser is the ability to do notch-de-essing and not just pulling down all of the high frequencies. I miss that when using the Digi De-essers.

Re: Voices miscounting?

In addition to JFreak's reply:

Placing RTAS plug-ins on Aux and Master Fader tracks take up extra voices as well.
Your best bet is to use all your TDM processing first.

Are you using any side...
