Re: Mastering Extremely Dynamic Tracks

A very quick update. Gain riding (via automation) was the solution. (Being a Mastering project, I couldn't go in and take advantage of Simon's suggestions)
It was a bit time consuming, but in the...

Re: Mastering Extremely Dynamic Tracks

Thanks Guys! I kind of figured I'd have to do some squishing.
One listen on a crappy HP notebook and it was over! Ha Ha

Mastering Extremely Dynamic Tracks

Hi Everyone! Long time no see... Sorry, the new gig doesn't allow me to "play" online the way I used to.

Anyway, I'm about to start mastering an EP and 3 of the tunes start and end at a "whisper...

Re: separating MIDI Clips

If you use copy and paste the clip will be its own separate region. Editing it will not affect the other instances.

Re: MIDI Keyboard

Hey Adam... I would highly recommend getting more than a 25 note controller.
I bought a 25 note because I don't really do that much keyboard work, but now I regret it and I'm looking for a 49 or...

Re: Newbie alert

Yes to all of your questions. Or so it seems...
1 - Pro Tools Express Crossgrade is what you want. I believe the 155 price will take you to PT 10, not 11, but I'm not sure.
2 - According to...

Re: Xpand2 multiple instruments midi volume

That is odd. What are you automating? I think there's a MIDI CC number, OR volume automation. I wonder if you're automating the volume of the plug in, instead of changing the individual MIDI...

Re: Sub Bass Kick Drum Question - Structure Plug-in

That's a tough one without examples, but...
1 - Is your track Mastered?
Comparing a rough mix to commercially released finished products is a bit of an "apples and oranges" situation.
2 - Are...

Re: Studio Monitors Position

And of course, listen to as much music as you can in that environment! Listen to different types of music at different volume levels. Your best tool will always be your ears, so you need to...

Re: ProTools 8 LE moving to new iMac

While it's not approved... My version of LE8 actually DID work on my newer iMac with 10.8. You MIGHT be lucky with 10.9.
Using LE8 you don't need the iLok... You need to have your Avid interface...

Re: will 44khz change the playback speed in a 48khz project?

OK, so my interpretation was correct. It is the quality of the transmission.
There is a wireless signal being sent from the transmitter hardware to receiver hardware. The quality of that signal is...

Re: How many people here actually like or use Xpand!2?

I like it... But only for certain applications.
The interface is frustrating with all of the dropdown menus, but I like to layer the Rhodes and CP80 electric pianos together. It's a nice...

Re: will 44khz change the playback speed in a 48khz project?

Hi Dan. I read the "specs" and it mentions "24/44.1 lossless transmission". I interpret this as the conversion rate made by the transmitter and receiver. It is sending that quality of audio from...

Re: will 44khz change the playback speed in a 48khz project?

There is nothing in a microphone that determines what you can or cannot record it to. If you plug that mic into Pro Tools you can record it at any sampling rate you want. You can plug it into a DAT...

Re: I didn't have "Automatically Create New Playlist in Loop Recording" checked...

Don't be too hard on yourself... Playlists mess me up sometimes too if you don't select your parameters in advance!
It shouldn't be too hard to fix though. Since all of your takes will have the...

Re: Recording Virtual Instruments w/ Apollo Duo

Sorry Adam... I misunderstood. I thought you had created a track in GB... I didn't realize you were playing GB like an instrument.

I agree with YYR123 - Just a grab a cheap MIDI keyboard.
Don't...

Re: Recording Virtual Instruments w/ Apollo Duo

Why don't you export the track from GB as a file then import it into Pro Tools? I would think that would be quicker and easier.

Re: MIDI drum track to audio?

No worries... Your sound source is an external unit? Yeah, no problem...
Just mute the MIDI tracks you're not recording and record the audio from the "brain" a few instruments at a time.
Have fun!

There's definitely a miscommunication here... I'm not sure on which end though...

I'll admit that I'm actually new to the Delay Compensation world. I only recently upgraded from PT8. That being said, I'm honestly not surprised by this problem... If you think of it from the...
