Re: Awkward DAW question

^^^ won't disagree if you are purely working tracking/mixing audio. Logic Pro is very nice, but uh yes sometimes the usability/workflow is a bit weird. The product reflects its history and uh can I...

Re: Awkward DAW question

My personal choices would be

Logic Pro on Mac.
Reaper on Windows.

But we have no clue at all what you are doing. If composition there are many DAWs that are likely *better* than Pro Tools. I...

Re: Constant Protools 12.5 crashes HIGH SIERRA

The idea you get free upgrades stopped many years ago at Pro Tools 12.6. Legacy Pro Tools 12 licenses needed to be (paid) update at 12.6. and after that you really are expected to be on a support...

Re: Pro Tools Carbon Latency Problem

Chris -- Not to imply the Carbon is not triggering what is going on here, but MBP do display some unusual cooling issues at times, including with external displays connected, sometimes seemingly...

Re: Pro Tools 2020.9 crashes 10 sec after starting

Hi Welcome to DUC.

I'm not sure what you are saying will make much sense to others here. Some more info would make things a lot clearer.

Pro Tools Cloud collaboration, while it can be buggy...

Re: Two versions PTools on two Macs

Pretty hard to make sense of what you are saying... there is no such thing called a "Pro Tools Upgrade Plan New" -- and I kinda guess what you might mean but there is nothing that actually turns from...

Re: Two versions PTools on two Macs

And if you have a license bundle and do have to move an iLok between both systems really consider if you want Pro Tools 12 on the old Mac... if that Mac can run a later macOS/Pro Tools combination...

Re: Brand New Computer/Pro Tools Issue

Very unlikely Pro Tools will just decide to do this.

Since the TASCAM control surface could send HUI Transport commands that is the natural suspect. Or maybe a faulty computer keyboard sending a...

Re: Pro Tools Carbon Latency Problem

Chris is posting multiple questions on DUC about his early experience with Carbon. And I believe have multiple support tickets open. Few other people have them. The concerning issue here is where is...

Re: Dual Firewire

Just remember if looking at those PC cards for ADAT etc. you are limited to 32 IO.

Re: Dual Firewire

Do you have any documentation that says these boxes actually support a second FireWire card? Google does not seem to find anything.... not a good sign. Can you get the second card to work by itself?...

Re: Dual Firewire

Aggregate IO is a crap shoot, you should expect it not to work reliably. And AFAIK Avid only ever officially supported it for aggregating Built-In Output with an interface. A key issue is the quality...

Re: Computer / OS Advice Needed: Using different drives as different "computers"

OK great, one reason for asking for details was this is a model that has issues with the optical bay SATA working at SATA III speeds, you don't want a modern SSD installed in that optical drive bay...

Re: Computer / OS Advice Needed: Using different drives as different "computers"

"MacBook Pro 2012" describes a wide variety of models. What exact model # and EMC # is the computer?

Re: Dante Controller and "Pro-Tools-First" Issue

You are thrashing around and wasting time.

You do not press N several times, you just hold the key down while Starting Pro Tools until the Playback Engine dialog appears. Are you on macOS? by...

Re: Dante Controller and "Pro-Tools-First" Issue

Other folks have already said this... but again... you are wasting your time and maybe your credibility at work trying to use Pro Tools First. Including because nobody on DUC who knows what they are...

Re: Best drive options - 2013 MacPro PT Ultimate

What is your problem? Correcting errors like you using confusing incorrect product names was very much called for. I do not want people trying for example to purchase a product that sounds like a...

Re: Compensate Input/Output Delay with external converters – not H/W Insert delay!

It's a pity that compensate after recording pass is an Ultimate only feature, you would think that Avid would care that integrity of the signal is actually important in all products. And yes then...

Re: Pro Tools projects not found in Finder search

Save As creates a new filesystem inode. Save does not. So in principle very different things to trigger an indexing services like Spotlight. And that gets to my concern if you are using cloud...

Re: Pro Tools projects not found in Finder search

Your smart folder is using a spotlight search internally. Wether it really shows what you think is every .ptx file on the systems will depend on (sometimes subtle/confusing) behavior of spotlight....

Re: Best drive options - 2013 MacPro PT Ultimate

Uh no, please read carefully. The OP actually needs a Thunderbolt 1/2 dock not 3. So upgrading the expansion chassis card to TB3 would not help.

Re: Best drive options - 2013 MacPro PT Ultimate

This adds nothing but confusion to clear advice already given. There is no such thing as the "Evo 970 Pro" for starters.

There are four relevant Samsung M.2 products.

Samsung 970 Pro (and the...

Also been discussed a fair amount on DUC. Very worth trying if you are getting CPU errors.
