For rock and metal, STL Tones is the best I have heard. The Rectifier and Diezel Herbert packs are monsters. They have a lot of different options and is very much geared towards the modern metal...

use the program Latencymon. It should be able to tell you what drivers are causing problems.

I recommend keeping a shortcut to your network adapter on your desktop. Then just right click and "disable" when running Pro Tools (if possible for your needs) This eliminates a LOT of problems....

Some interfaces Pro Tools will run, though very badly when the interface is still set in Windows as the the default playback devices. I have seen this fix quite a problem systems.

You can download the newest Ilok driver and inside of it is a "legacy" folder with the previous installer.

It is the ilok driver. Advised to roll it back and hopefully they will address it soon.

The 1903 builds before the July update had serious DPC latency issues. Some system drivers-kernals would hang on some processes and cpu spikes would go crazy. The July update resolved those issues.
