Re: What do you like for slap back delay?

I donít do classic much, not unless Iím deliberately trying to make something sound like itís from a certain period. I have no interest in wanting to sound like the Beatles or Stones or Pink Floyd,...

Re: What do you like for slap back delay?

Well I have tried it now, with the STEED. I wasnít after a classic slapback effect, Iím not a fan of it in most cases. I just something small, dryish and intimate... and I got it too.

Re: New Plugin Alliance plugin - SSL?

Haha!!

Appleís big problem was too much faith in open source. Itís a great idea, but it held back the platform from really developing.

At least the finally got around to designing Metal,...

Re: Aphex Aural Exciter?

I do like eqing before saturation/exciting that way you can carve out the frequencies you donít want enhanced as much and boost others that you do.

Often itís just subtle moves, but it can be...

Re: Waves The Abbey Road Chambers AAX

Itís a beast, no doubt because it most likely has an FIR style reverb engine as opposed to the conventional approaches.

Iíve noticed that the load is almost doubled with the window open in Logic. ...

Re: iZotope RX7 officially announced

I have found in the past that the added improvements isn’t usually worth the upgrade price they are asking, which is usually around $400. Even with the usual $100 off voucher I don’t think it’s...

Re: New Plugin Alliance plugin - SSL?

Hindsight is 20/20. If only we can see into the future we could make more wise decisions.

Kind of wished I put money on Apple after they released the G5. I was seriously thinking about it then....

Re: Saturation, Analog Warmth, etc. plugins

Itís a common misperception. While you are summing binary together in digital technology, you ARENT actually summing audio in analogue. Thatís actually wrong.

Youíre summing together voltages. ...

Re: Saturation, Analog Warmth, etc. plugins

There it is right there. "tacked on fake effect"

You don't spend all that time and money pull apart 3 consoles and analyse the differences in each channel only to just fake an effect for a...

Re: Saturation, Analog Warmth, etc. plugins

Its impossible for a channel strip alone to sum, what is it summing with?!?

However, if you run your channels into the NLS Buss emulation, you get alot of the merits from summing your channels...

Re: Saturation, Analog Warmth, etc. plugins

Analogue devices are just maths in physical form. That's hoe circuits are designed. Every component or series of components are designed to do something "mathematical" to a signal, whether it by as...

Re: Processing audio to an RMS range and max peak level (Waves)

If it introduced make up gain it would put your signal back over your desired RMS level. The whole point is NOT to make that gain up. It’s actually a good thing with an ISP limiter.

However,...

Re: Processing audio to an RMS range and max peak level (Waves)

Although WLM Plus has a True Peak limiter built in.

I still prefer to use my limiter of choice, but just use that last in the chain to catch any rogue peaks.

Re: Saturation, Analog Warmth, etc. plugins

Of course you have a right to your own opinion, but not your own facts.

You might want to do a little fact checking on what it does, because you’re a little off there.

WLM will make Trim suggestions to bring your audio into spec. As long as you have it set up correctly just hit the trim button after playing it through.

For more fine control, WLM will tell you...

Re: All Waves comps on sale

It’s a different type of degradation in that case. Noise levels go up rather quickly as delay quality very slowly declines. Tape degradation has a different tonality and quality about it. Tape...
