Re: Pro Tools 2020.5 GUI FREAK OUT on Windows 10

Re: Pro Tools 2020.5 GUI FREAK OUT on Windows 10

I’m not the person to ask to compare different CPU’s etc, sorry. However, before I made the jump to PC in July I had a Mac Pro 2010 5,1.

To prepare my transition I installed a bootcamp win 10...

Try the processor affinity thing on your windows machine, I can help you if you want.

See how good windows can be if you get a hang of it (still learning many things myself after so many years of...

Ok, as promised, the some details.

The processor affinity has a lot to do with this issue.
As I responded to support (I'll paste the conversation below, read from the bottom to top), my...

Re: Pro Tools 2020.5 GUI FREAK OUT on Windows 10

Ok, this is interesting.

I did what Mr The Weed suggested with the Processor Affinity.

I set this before for Pro Tools, but after the updates that was probably gone. I assigned cores 2 to...

Re: Pro Tools 2020.5 GUI FREAK OUT on Windows 10

Re: Pro Tools 2020.5 GUI FREAK OUT on Windows 10

Thanks for the suggestion, I might try that later. The idea makes sense.

Avid Support got back to me rather quickly, pointing to a document from feb 2020 that states Pro Tools does not support...

Once again Avid is a couple of years behind...

UPDATE: After running at 1080p for about an hour (yes, I rebooted and all that) I can tell you that THAT is not the problem.

Re: Pro Tools 2020.5 GUI FREAK OUT on Windows 10

Hehehe, I recognize much of what you say, but don't have the cash lying around for a Mac Pro, so apart from the direction both OS-es are going and the vibe I get from Apple (more and more AVID-like),...

Re: Pro Tools 2020.5 GUI FREAK OUT on Windows 10

That is an impressive machine, I’m just not convinced OSX is better for Pro Tools anymore. YMMV

As long as you know your way around and are familiar with the problems, that will save you time...

Re: Pro Tools 2020.5 GUI FREAK OUT on Windows 10

Still good here. Did the suggested methods not help?

I read there are some GUI issues on OSX as well, not aware if it’s related.

Re: Pro Tools 2020.5 GUI FREAK OUT on Windows 10

Re: Pro Tools 2020.5 GUI FREAK OUT on Windows 10

I did not try the actual suggestion by that other thread, but that did point me in the (seemingly) right direction for my case.

Still hoping that it's related.

I messed with these settings...

Re: Pro Tools 2020.5 GUI FREAK OUT on Windows 10

I’m intimately familiar w RME’s stability, good sound as well. And same here, only Pro Tools is freaking out.

Could you try changing the scaling and run Pro Tools, then quit PT and turn the...
