uninstall everything (PT wise), do a search for Pro tools and Digidesign- delete it and the Digidesign Preferences folder that is on every drive

reboot and reinstall PT according to the manual

I came from a D1600 to PTLE 5. something. PT is NOT easy to use when starting out but the sound IS better, the edit features way MORE indepth and faster. Once you learn PT, you will never look back....

if so, use a noise reduction tool like Bias Sound Soap 2 or Pro- here (http://www.bias-inc.com/products/soundsoap/)
