For anyone still having these issues of low input levels on the Mbox 3, I'll share what I found and how I've been working around it.

I get this problem when using my 2 CAD m179 condensers....

Thanks for the response. I'm not really that worried about the squealing. I am worried that I will never have a truly portable way to use these microphones. So is there no way to get these to work...
