Re: SPDIF confusion

Well, I think I have it figured now. Thanks for the replies. Strangely Google couldn't help me figure it out at all. I was considering taking advantage of the digital outs on the Mbox but have no...

Re: SPDIF confusion

Cool. So I guess SPDIF has more bandwidth and sends an actual digital signal? Sort of bypassing the analogue amps of the Mbox before reaching whatever destination?

SPDIF confusion

I am trying to figure how and when to use SPDIF but haven't been able to figure it out.

Is SPDIF the same as sometimes referred to "coaxial digital RCA cables"?

If SPDIF is digital what would...

Re: Can\'t bounce to MP3

Trashing prefs didn't work but the PACE update did. I would have never thought of that. Thanks.

Can\'t bounce to MP3

I am using 6.4 and would like to bounce to MP3. I just bought the MP3 option but I am not being prompted to enter in the serial # anywhere. When I try to bounce to MP3 I get error message 5000 then...

Re: Performance for the 17\" 1.33gHz Powerbook

What do you want to hear? If you want tough you don't want the 17". Several people have outlined exactly what they use so you have a basis for comparing estimated processor performance. Maybe you...

Re: Performance for the 17\" 1.33gHz Powerbook

I use the REV A 17" with Mbox rewired to Reason 2.5. I never use samples in Reason except maybe 3 NNXT Orkester patches occasionally. I can run a really loaded Reason song (7 subtractors, 5 redrums,...

Re: Newbie questions about Macs and film post work

Quite a bit of difference. OSX is really great in that things are more intuitive. A lot of things can simply be dragged and dropped. I would recommend getting a two or more button scroll wheel mouse....

Re: Automation question

I tried to figure it out (didn't get a manual either) and it kind of works with the scrubber tool. But when you turn movie to offline it stops working and switching movie back to online it won't do...

Re: Mbox 6.2.2 and G5 Panther 10.3.2 - almost all good

#2 is normal. When PT software is activated on a new boot the USB turns on during PT startup.

#3 what sound are you trying to hear? System sounds will not play through the Mbox but others should...

Re: Is it worth the external FW800 HD instead of 4

I think you will run into processor slowness before the 800 would make a difference. I have a 17" and a 400 FW drive and my processor gets bogged but not the drive. The only drive slowness is if it...

Re: How to use non quicktime video formats in PT?

Well the iPod can play back WAV format but just wanted to make sure you are practicing what you preach. You would be a hypocrite to make any kind of copies now. Merry Christmas y'all

Re: How to use non quicktime video formats in PT?

Just tell me this. Do you ever copy material for MP3s in your iPod or whatever? Or make a copy onto your computer for your jukebox? Or make an MP3 CD for your car stereo?

Re: How to use non quicktime video formats in PT?

Re: How to use non quicktime video formats in PT?

I have to completely disagree. You don't do that with audio CDs right? I convert them to MP3 and have back ups. I can't believe people think that. I now have the entire movie in PT, I just needed to...

Re: Computer Settings

You definitely need a second audio drive. Audio is going to take up a lot of resources. One drive running the OS, PT, and writing audio is going to be overworked. Digi says this in the manual. I have...
