You are correct. SPDIF/AES SELECT is set to SPDIF and USB/DIGI SOURCE is set to OUTPUT1. With the 1010 set as Master, I can send to the Axe but cannot receive.

I just searched the manual for all info pertaining to S/PDIF in the Axe II. No where does it specify it has to be the Master or not. I can also get a signal into the Axe II via SPDIF with the 1010LT...

Got the answer from John over at Toontracks. The toontrack stuff requires PT 7.3 or above. Midi in earlier PT versions didn't do so well with 3rd party software supposedly.
