Re: New Mac Pro

Apple announced the support :D seriously there must be something in there, they wouldn't advertise third parties just for the fun of being sued...

Re: Apple Keynote going

Re: New Mac Pro

Well 15 years ago the liquid-cooled G5 was 1.0kW already so nothing really new here.. but still, drawing 1.4kW max is much

Re: New Mac Pro

Check the dimensions from apple.com spec sheet... hard to fit the 21" front into 19" rack but 18" depth (a.k.a. top face of the box) is doable

Re: New Mac Pro

You can buy racks of any sizes, but the question being: "is the mac pro mountable to a STANDARD 19" rack" and the answer is no -- length 18" makes it possible to "fit it" in one but mounting it into...

Re: New Mac Pro

I wouldn't be surprised if the connector is just the same as in the trashcan, which means OWC already has 2TB Aura Pro X2 for $700 -- the real question is, when will they be able to offer 4TB, 8TB,...

Re: New Mac Pro

Latest rack-mountable was G4 if you don't count the vertical rack kits for cheesegraters.. but if you do, the same kind of kits should be made available for these as well.. only a matter of time

Re: Apple Keynote going

Oh okay.. but you know just that Apple installer doesn't allow you to install doesn't mean you can't get it working ;) it has always been the same, you just need to find the patched installer for...

Re: New Mac Pro

Cheesegraters are already very cheap so likely not much happening there, perhaps a small discount because everything ages every year. Trashcans however can even get more expensive because there...

Re: New Mac Pro

I'm still worried how loud those fans are when your session runs over 50% CPU at all times... same goes to the current Mac Mini... laptops for sure become a windtunnel

Re: Apple Keynote going

Yea, it's expensive.. then again, 20 years is a long time and 2500*1,04^20=5478 so it just means they have re-invented the 20yr old price point (assuming 4% inflation per year)
