Pro Tools 10, Mbox 2 Pro Firewire, Windows 7 64 bit machine.

I plugged my Roland basic foot switch into the back of the Mbox hoping to use it to record. It did not work.

I would like to run at 64 samples but can only get down to 128 without errors and freezes. I do use low latency monitoring while tracking - but I would like to get as close to zero latency as...

I always run Pro Tools 10 with:

Internet Access (WI-FI) turned off and disconnected
All extraneous programs shut down
Virus Shield turned off

Honestly... this should be enough to run with...

I have a 2nd generation Mbox Pro Firewire and have never been able to track at this setting. Would boosting my RAM up to 8GB from 4GB help?

If it can and should be kept on at all times then why is it even an option to turn it off?

If it causes no harm to run - Avid should have made it transparent.

If all my tracks have NO latency but my Master Track has 3000 samples (Ozone 5 added for example). ...

I'm still unclear.

There are 3 ALC settings in the Playback Window
Short 1023 samples
Long 4095 samples
Max 16383 samples

So, using my scenerio I would be completely safe and in sync...

Ok, I think I have a handle on how ALC works and where and when to apply it.

Scenerio:
Guitar Track has 1000 samples of Latency
Vocal Track has 1000 samples of Latency
Drum Track has 750...

What if I have a compressor and EQ on the instrument tracks. These ProTools standard plugins claim to have NO latency and when I check them they indeed have NO latency.

I went into Hardware setup - it's set to "Focusrite USB ASIO Driver"

Playback engine set to "Focusrite USB ASIO Driver".
