Re: Promo for perpetual license holders

Same here, and I already have all 3 Crane Song plugins, and an S3 and HDX, Omni, still have my HD3 Accel since 2007, etc, etc, etc, and have been on the update path since then until Feb 2021. Just...

Re: Promo for perpetual license holders

Speaking only for myself. I didn’t really choose to allow my perpetual license to lapse in Feb 2021. My limited attention was 100% focused on cancer treatment at the time.

Yes, this language is pretty clear. It’s just not clear why the promo isn’t showing up in my account

Promo for perpetual license holders

I haven’t seen this discussed anywhere. I received an email from Avid for a promo subscription offer $299 for a one year subscription to Ultimate and you can keep your perpetual license. Am I...

Can't record MIDI from Slate Trigger

Hi all. I've updated to 2020.5 recently which has been overall working well.

I'm trying to convert real drums to midi using Slate Trigger. I have Trigger on the real drum track with its midi out...

HDX in Harpertown PC?

I’ve read that the Harpertown Mac Pro should be avoided for HDX cards but are Harpertown PCs ok for HDX?

Re: Anyone try the Dell T7400? Three 64 bit PCI-X slots in a row

I now have Snow Leopard running on this machine and so far it's been as stable as XP with HD3 and a ULN8 running simultaneously via onboard firewire. Everything seems to be working 100% except sleep...

Re: Pro Tools 9!

Can anyone remark on what the monitoring/latency is like with PT9HD and a third party interface? Are there any limitations for a tracking/foldback scenario?

I'm thinking this could save the cost...

Re: HEAT, NEVE 8048 Listening Challenge

Yes.

I'm a fan of Dave Hill and his analog emulation algorithms and Pro Tools but this test makes a weak case. I have to disregard the numbers related to specific identification of sounds. The...

Re: HEAT, NEVE 8048 Listening Challenge

While it can be assumed that most test participants have a reference to PT it's less likely that all have a reference to Neve or Heat. The test doesn't account for this. In the cases where a...

Re: HEAT, NEVE 8048 Listening Challenge

If people know what to listen for I'll bet the picks would be more accurate.

FWIW this, roughly, is how I discern it:

Neve has solid kick/bass, harmonics and gel and sounds open.

Heat has...

Re: HEAT, NEVE 8048 Listening Challenge

That's funny. I got 4 of the 5 Heat picks right and the way I discerned it was by picking the one that sounded the most veiled. I'm pretty sure the one I got wrong was the intro because there wasn't...

Dell M4500 with Magma HD cards

I'm looking at putting together a moble HD setup with either a Macbook or Dell M4500 laptop. Anyone have experience with the M4500 for this purpose? Expresscard, Magma recommendations?

Re: Anyone try the Dell T7400? Three 64 bit PCI-X slots in a row

Hi, sorry for the very late response. I have no experience to offer with Win 7. I'm actually still running the same configuration, only I updated to sc7 for 7.3.1. It's the most stable setup I've...

Re: Any know if the Dell Precision T7500 runs HD system

I don't know anything about the T7500 but the T7400 has been nothing but good for me with HD3 accel for almost 2 years now. I'm still running 7.3.1sc7 which wasn't approved for this machine.

Re: HFS+ / Macdrive problem

I can attest that you can work off a mac formatted drive with the latest version of MacDrive. It's been solid for me, even for extremely dense editing.

Edit: I'm running XP though, and 7.3.1sc7....

Re: Windows XP system sound through 192?

In my experience the Digidesign drivers are only usable for running Pro Tools on XP. Don't know if things have been improved in Version 8.

Re: Anyone try the Dell T7400? Three 64 bit PCI-X slots in a row

Actually, my memory was off. I made a conscious comparison the other day and it's quieter than a G5. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Anyone try the Dell T7400? Three 64 bit PCI-X slots in a row

Hey, sorry I missed these questions. I only have 2GB of ram. No need for more than that for what I do. I've only run XP and PT 7.3 so far. It's still doing fine.

As far as noise ... It's a little...

Re: Soundtoys TDM v3 Problems

The TDM-only plugs work fine here too. It's the TDM/RTAS plugs that have trouble.

Yes, and demo the customer support first also. Clearly, PC TDM users are at the end of a line which just got...

Re: Anyone try the Dell T7400? Three 64 bit PCI-X slots in a row

Hey Brad. No regrets with this computer at all. It's the best one I've had so far by a big margin.

You may have noticed that it's now Digi approved for PTHD 8. I can vouch that it's solid with...

Re: Building New System... thoughts on this spec. appreciated?

No regrets at all with this system, especially with the CPU's. It's amazing how I can pile up RTAS plugs and the CPU meter stays so steady. No other computer I've worked on comes close in this...
