Re: Mackie MCU & PT 9?

Has anybody used the Command 8 instead of the MCU? I Have the MCU and it just doesn't seem to be ergonomic for PT9... It works fine, but the buttons and switches just seem unorganized...

I was...

Learning Curves, Updates, and Pro Tools 9

With all the complaints and griping going on in a number of these forums - And since I do know that Avid does in fact read these - I just want to give a positive shout out to the developers and...

Re: $2100 to spend on new pro tools computer...

I feel your pain... :) I love the way Mac works with the stuff that works with it... but I can't stand the price and proprietary-ness of it...

We went with a PC for the simple sake that I can get...

Re: Latency - OK on Mac, haywire on Win 7

Are you sure these numbers are correct? 1ms is approximately 1 ft of airspace for comparison... your numbers are 90', 3786' (3/4 of a mile) and 640' from the source... I find that anything above...

Re: Studio Cabling - Mogami Cable Types?

Yeah, I don't really need a consultant for bulk cable reels... Their multi-channel stuff is strait forward and doesn't have a lot of "flavors". This is really just for making up jumpers, patch, and...

Studio Cabling - Mogami Cable Types?

We are currently finalizing the design of our new studio and we're down to cabling and have come across some questions... We currently use, both live and in our project studio, Mogami cables... When...

Re: Video Choppy After Waves Plugins Added

Well, I upgraded the video card to an ASUS GTX460 and it improved considerably.... I guess it's just graphics card intensive.... I think that's strange , but oh well - all is right with the world...

Re: Video Choppy After Waves Plugins Added

I'm sorry, I guess I wasn't too clear - I'm not running video... It's just a multi-track mix... The video aspect was just referring to the playback cursor on the screen while it moves from left to...

Video Choppy After Waves Plugins Added

Does anybody know if Pro Tools 9 is video card intensive? We were playing around with a couple of audio track (24/44.1k) playback and added a bus to a track with the H-Comp Waves plugin and the...

Re: Octopre vs 2626 vs ?

Wow, I just read up on that... that's pretty impressive at that price range... That helps a lot on keeping your gear from ending up on the shelf as you upgrade or change out equipment...

Re: Octopre vs 2626 vs ?

If you're happy with the 56, I would recommend that you go with the Octopre - that way your software interface may be able to take advantage of compatibility - though it may make no difference. It...

Re: Multiple interfaces

We heard from PreSonus that PT9 currently does not allow for aggregate devices and that they are currently working on a "patch"... we went with the MOTU 24i/o core to bypass this problem.

From my...

Re: 32 Channel Input / 16 Channel Output Device(s)?

I should add that according to PreSonus - PT9 is currently working on a patch for this, but I hate holding my breath for specific "patches"... We don't need no stinkin' patches! :)

Re: 32 Channel Input / 16 Channel Output Device(s)?

Yes, I just heard back from PreSonus on the same issue. They basically said exactly what you said - PT9 currently does not support aggregate devices chained... that's why our only two options were...

Re: 32 Channel Input / 16 Channel Output Device(s)?

No worries - Hassle away! LOL! :) It isn't going to be our final solution and that's what we were concerned about originally. We had planned on doing exactly what you say above with a number of...

Re: 32 Channel Input / 16 Channel Output Device(s)?

I wasn't set on lightpipe... just wanted a 32/16 minimum setup... The MOTU provides an expandable system to get us there. It went over our original budget price in the full 32/16 option, but we liked...

Re: 32 Channel Input / 16 Channel Output Device(s)?

We're going to avoid building a new studio with discontinued hardware... If I already owned it, or it was boutique equipment I would probably use it. I would rather have stuff that under warranty and...

Re: 32 Channel Input / 16 Channel Output Device(s)?

Answering the last three posts:

We looked at the RedNet equipment... it was simply beyond our budget - and really is a live use application with ethernet style cabling... While it would work great...

Re: 32 Channel Input / 16 Channel Output Device(s)?

Actually the whole PCI-424 card line looks great for what I want to do... Start with the 2408mk3 core, add another 2408mk3 and expand until my hearts content... I don't like having all those TRS...

Re: 32 Channel Input / 16 Channel Output Device(s)?

My original plan was the PreSonus Lightpipe, 2x PreSonus DigiMax FS, 2x PreSonus DigiMax D8... It was perfect for my needs and I didn't have to worry about any compatibility issues... I like the...

Re: 32 Channel Input / 16 Channel Output Device(s)?

With that studio, I could effectively track the entire band w/ isolation... That way they could just do spot punch-in repairs if needed instead of just tracking the drums, then bass, then guitars,...

Re: 32 Channel Input / 16 Channel Output Device(s)?

I could get by with 24... but need at least 16 outputs for headphones, main A * B stereo.

I have a hybrid studio setup being built - it's a real studio build with a 30' x 30' live room, 4...

Re: Protools 9 interface suggestions new buyer help

If you're just looking for 10 ins/ 10 outs... the FireStudio Project is a great device and should be absolutely fine with PT9... we've used the SL 16 and the FireStudio Mobile with no problems... I...

Re: 32 Channel Input / 16 Channel Output Device(s)?

Should be 32 for Pro Tools 9... You can get more input into Pro Tools 9, but you can only record on 32 at any given time as I understand it.
