I received an update on this from Avid asking me to try disabling Tailspin and Spindump.
My method of disabling and re-enabling my dialogue tracks works on some sessions and not others, so no win...

You're right of course, it upmixes rather than decodes, but it still sounds ok.

The last 2 films I did they only asked for stereo so I gave them LoRo because it sounds better. So if you're seeing the same thing we can only hope it will spread out elsewhere?

LtRt should be retired IMHO.
It was a technology for a time when bandwidth wasn't available/ allotted for discreet surround channels.
Not only is the decoded signal often unsatisfying in surround,...

If that mix track doesn't have the original metadata in it, it will never re-link to anything.


EDL is one way to go, with Kraken as Pete says.


Personally I'd get an edit assist to conform...

I did some pretty intense testing on this today.
It played through the film once with no errors and on the second playthrough the error occurred about 50 mins in.
It was a section of about 5 mins...

Ok, I changed my mind after using it a bit more and bought it in the PPS4 upgrade bundle.
It worked really well in a few cases and I hope they will improve the Reverb sensing algorithm.

I was doing a playback for clients yesterday and we had 3 of these in the course of a 90 min film.
25 mins in automation too dense then -20021 and timeline won't play - restart PT.

That's the way I used to do it.
Soundflow now has an option to pop open the first plugin on the aux destination track, which I find way more user friendly.
No need to scroll or anything if you have...

I'm seeing this too on fades from another editor's session imported into mine. He uses a custom fade curve as his default.



I have to re-make the fade to a standard one before I can adjust it.

Pluraleyes doesn't work in Pro Tools.
I wish it did, but its currently only for video editing software.


You can use it to sync in premiere pro or FCP and export an AAF to PT.
