Hi all -

My first post on the DUC in over five years! I got married and promptly we had twins, so I'm finally finding time and energy to devote to my studio.

I recently bought the Artist...

Re: What\'s the next step for Digidesign?

[/QUOTE]

This isn't 1999 anymore where your 450mhz G4 is choking without the help of a TDM system. Digidesign needs to address this in a real way. People will always ask for more of this or that...

Re: CD Authoring Software

You can use Jam from Roxio. Not the best interface ever but it works.

My favorite is WaveBurner Pro, which is bundled with Logic Pro. It might be with Logic express too but I haven't checked.

Re: Does itunes colour the sound?

And how many music consumers listen objectively? Or audiophiles for that matter? It is all about sound.

If a mix sounds bigger mixed outside the box than inside, yes that is a subjective thing. ...

Re: Does itunes colour the sound?

It is BOUNCING that colours the sound. Do some searching on the DUC and you'll find countless threads of debate on this topic. Something happens in the summing phase that seems to affect the...

Re: Which Interface???

I've been pretty happy with my Mbox 2 Pro. The firewire i/o works well and I just ordered the Black Lion mod which will improve the clock, pres and output stage.

Re: Loop problem

I don't think you wantto run your buffer so high unless you have many tracks/plug-ins going. It sounds like something is occasionally causing your CPU to spike.

Are your energy savings prefs...

Re: Macbook Pro and Mbox 2 Pro and bus powering

I use a similar setup and have not had this problem. I think you either have a bad FW cable or you are correct that the bus is underpowered.

In my case, I run a cable to a 4 port FW hub, the hub...

Re: do i need a pre-amp?

Bono has used many different mics but mostly high-end telefunken and neumann, no doubt through high-end preamps. It all depends on the song and the sound you're going for. 58's are awesome for...

Re: Need tips on preparing tracks for CD-Audio

You might want to insert a single band EQ on the master bus to roll off frequencies below 40hz if you are concerned about low frequency rumble.

Also JAM is a better program than TOAST for setting...

Re: good studio moniters for 003

I used to use Blue Sky but found their tweeters to be very shrill and hyped. I haven't heard the Adam monitors but again, everyone has their own preferences.

Re: Made the Jump to HD 2 - Huge sound difference (in my stu

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple takes advantage of their multiple 64-bit processors to improve upon this. Hopefully PTLE will improve the LE mix bus as well.

The differential between LE and HD...

Re: Playback/Recording stopping immediately

There is a button on the transport box that looks like a clock, I think. I believe that if that is enabled the transport is waiting to be triggered by a synched midi source.
