Welcome to the forum.

A good place to start is reading the Help Us Help You (http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=336556) thread, where you will find general Pro Tools setup, optimization and...

Re: First time PT First user!! Help!

Have you tried installing as administrator? To do so, right click on the PT installer and choose Run as administrator. This will launch the setup program with elevated privileges, which may help...

Re: Recording MIDI w/Superior Drummer 3 VST - # of Tracks and Functionality

An instrument track is all you need and there really shouldn't be any special setup to get it to work.

If you create a new instrument track and choose SD3 as the instrument and can hear sound when...

Re: Inputting Sound when USB Interface is Set as Playback Device

Windows actually has a feature for doing just this, which would be easier than trying to route your mixer to/from itself.

Take a look at the\is tutorial video:
Use Windows Audio (WASAPI)...

Re: The program won't open

Your system may be a little old to be running Pro Tools First, but there may be some things to look at first to at least get it running.

What type of audio interface are you using? Pro Tools...

Re: Help / redownload pro tools ?

I'm not sure what the Helper does, but Application Manager is only a tool to help you keep Pro Tools and it's associated plug-ins up to date, and is not required to run Pro Tools.

You can stop...

Re: Thunderbolt 3

The UA interfaces are excellent choices and TB will certainly give you the best performance. For what you are doing, it sounds like the Apollo would be a great choice and includes the plugins you...

Re: Thunderbolt 3

I'm a little unsure what your end goal is here with TB3. The main benefit of using TB3 is the speed of the data, which in turn gives you very low latency compared to older technologies.

So by...

Re: Audio input "interface" is greyed out

You may want to try defaulting your interface settings.
First, launch Pro Tools and hold down the N key while it loads.
Once loaded, you will be prompted to select your Playback Engine, where you...

Re: No UVI for me yet

Re: Questions about Freeze Tracking

Keep in mind that Pro Tools has dynamic plug-in processing, so even an un-frozen track will only use CPU when it is processing audio. If no audio is present, it frees up CPU for other plug-ins. So,...

Re: 11R as a head for an Orange PPC112

There are lots of people doing this and there are lots of solutions.
First, do you want a tube power amp or a solid state power amp?

Re: Recommendations on External Drive

Both drives use solid state storage. The OWC is a Thunderbolt connection, where the Glyph uses USB 3.1.
Thunderbolt is going to be a faster connection, but USB 3.1 is plenty fast to do what you...

Re: Optimazation of ProTools 12.7.0

Do you mean Intel Rapid Start?

Rapid Start technology helps a computer sleep/resume faster and would really have no affect on Pro Tools. So, you can leave that enabled.

Re: Xpand directory for PT First

The installer should take care of putting all the files where they are supposed to be in order to make Pro Tools First work properly.

What platform are you on and did you run the installer for PTF?

Re: Error messages when I try to open project files

It looks like the Windows file association for ptx files is broken. This could be either a corrupt installation or that the association is pointing to an older install of PT, which it tries to look...

Re: New Mac Mini will the 6 core i3 support Pro Tools?

It really depends on what you do with PT and how big your sessions are, but in general, the i3 is on the light side of processing power for working with audio.

The i5 with 16GB of RAM would be a...

Re: Files Not Available, All My Tracks Blank
