It goes from STILL having to refer to your main drive as C: (talk...

Re: New Macs OSX only; no digi support?

I'm not talking about ProTools not running in Classic. I'm talking of Quark using OS9 only, either in Classic mode or booting up from 9.

The point, obviously missed here, is that OS9 is needed to...

Re: 2 or more compressors on Vocals

I typically use 7 compressors, 4 EQs, 2 gates and a DeEsser running into a DaD and finally a couple of outboard Manley units and a SansAmp, and I have to daisy chain 4 auxes to fit all the inserts....

Re: unbalanced vs. balanced question: 8*Bus + 888\'s

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I totally agree with Mr. Damon, it doesn't make much sense to use your sends to get signal to the 888s. His suggestion is very smart.

To answer your question,...

Re: New Macs OSX only; no digi support?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">As far as we know, Classic IS MacOS 9 running on top of X. If you don't have 9 installed, there is no Classic Mode on your Mac.

Therefore, if you have 9...

Re: New Macs OSX only; no digi support?

I honestly don't see the reason for all this panic about Apple "killing" OS9.x.

I'll just get the OS updates as they come out, install them on a separate partition or computer, and when PT is...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I'm utterly sorry, but this is the biggest load of drivel I have ever read. For various reasons:

1. You really expect Apple to pay for the costs of the whole...

Re: What is the difference between Pro Tools and Sonar

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Yeah, shame that the latest version (5.3.1 for HD) it's not available at the downloads section of the Digi website yet. There's only the Mac version there,...

Re: internal speakers and monitoring

I wouldn't use the crappy 1/8" jack on the Mac to monitor my work, especially having two nice balanced outputs on my audio interface, but that's just me.

I wouldn't eat cold french fries either,...

Re: Setting up modest home studio: PC or Mac? Which ProTools product?

I agree with Andy, the eMac + MBox combo is a great, inexpensive solution. Plus, you can collaborate with a friend (who might have a 001 or greater for recording drums) through DigiStudio (included...

Re: Best, fastest non-SCSI hard drive solution???

I would go with Firewire too, even though the only tests I've done are using them in real life situations.

I've been running up to 48 heavily-edited tracks from an inexpensive Que! M3 80GB 7200...
