Re: Clip Groups to save time in TV Series for ATMOS?

This has been up for three years on ideascale:

Because of this you still have to do the old...

Re: Opening AAFs across network?

Either method will work. We currently run everything off a DDP server. There's no difference to working on a local drive.

Re: Resurrect Steve Jobs

hm. The next consequence would be TB capable hardware (integrated interfaces with built-in cards) from AVID. Not sure if there are many people out there in the long run that are willing to invest an...

Re: Resurrect Steve Jobs

And what have you gained from that investment apart from shelling out 10k$ compared to your current setup?

Unless AVID offers a swap-out of HDn PCIe to HDn TB. A 1k$ expansion chassis just for a...

Re: Resurrect Steve Jobs

Think so? Yet more wall-warts, cables, PSUs plus external drives with even more wall warts.
Everything that is now inside my Mac would be outside in it's own housing with cables in between them plus...

Re: breaths in m+e

Anything vocal (screams, sighs, grunts, breaths, exotic foreign language content etc. etc.) usually go to optional tracks in the M&E and are logged in the M&E "road map" or what ever the client...

Re: Sound Devices 788T now supports 192 KHz

hm. 8 tracks but only 4 limiters...not sure.

probably the same outcry would happen. why not 5 limiters?! why 4 limiters? can't we have 4 tracks at 48k with limiters and the other 4 at 192k without...

Re: Sound Devices 788T now supports 192 KHz

The 8 limiters are pre A/D but digitally controlled by the processor. I guess at 96k and above the 788 needs every milligram of processing speed so the limiter is disabled. Yes, it's unfortunate but...

Getting rid of whining PSUs

Hi,

the high pitch whine of the Artist's PSUs is driving me bananas. In combination with the too short cable that forces me to keep them in close proximity it makes the "perfect" sound annoyance...

Re: QT Sync and Pro Tools weirdness!

Seems to run fine here (10.7.5).

YOu can also use this: https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/compressor/id424390742?mt=12

But you didn't mention what you are using QTsync for so not quite sure if...

Re: Sound Devices 788T now supports 192 KHz

Do you have the recent version installed? The first version of the limiter clicked and crackled and was unusable but that was fixed many years ago in a firmware update (I think in v1.76)

Re: Sound Devices 788T now supports 192 KHz

haha, epic confusion :D

guys, you are talking about two different things.

the new firmware adds digital limiters to the digital (AES3 and AES42 digital mic) inputs. This is a new feature that...

Re: Sync question

Are you sure that PT resolves midi-TC correctly to the clock?

AFAIK, it can only do this properly with LTC.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you can maintain TC edge sync with midi-TC.

Re: Satellite Link in HD11 will still need Sync HD

I think the question raised is if it's not possible to interlock everything (video and audio) via network instead of feeding a common clock to every system, individually one day?

With the new AVE...

Re: Big LCD or Beamer?

The big advantage of a projector is the fact that your center can live behind the screen in the sweet spot. With an LCD it's always below or above.

A huge LCD makes center placement a compromise....

Re: pan grid follows track selection?

Only with an Eucon controller I believe. It's partly an Eucon feature but it only works with plugin-windows which is why it works with Spanner.

The official pan window however won't follow. And...

Re: Video play back in PT 11 questions

For what it's worth: Ediprompt can do auto-stremers/count-downs/beeps that get auto-backtimed whenever you hit play and/or record. So for complete on-the-fly work you can simply locate to ANY point...

Re: Video play back in PT 11 questions

...and costs how much? 15k? 20k? Pyxis and Vcube do cool things but they cost as much as a full HDX rig. For that money I'd actually expect that kind of functionality.
Wouldn't mind if PT did it but...

Re: Alternative to BarbaBatch?

Soundminer. The mirror feature will interleave, SRC, format-convert, preserve meta-data, batch-rename and preserve folder/sub-folder-structure all on the same ticket.

Re: Post house upgrades to 11?

The constant memory related crashes alone will probably make me upgrade to 11 about 12 seconds after it's release. (Given that my current project is done by then)
;)

I must say the memory...

Re: HD 10 'running out of CPU power' and DAE 9121 errors

ah. OK. In that case it's unlikely the video that's causing the issue but getting rid of H264 won't hurt.

too many reels in one session is my guess.

Splitting it will help.

Re: HD 10 'running out of CPU power' and DAE 9121 errors

Definitely split the session. Try R1-3, 4-6. If that doesn't help try 2 each and so on. That should do it on a TDM.

The "real" memory usage is not the memory shown in the activity window. Select...
