I was always under the impression that Pro Tools would not launch and/or function w/out the digi001 breakout box attached. I have discovered that in PT6.4 on panther it does in fact launch and...

Re: FW vs Internal ATA Drives

the internal ATA bus is faster than the firewire, yes. i don't know how much of a difference it makes, but it is definitely a faster connection.

Re: 001 USERS, what are we gonna do with these things?

Re: Cant record reason tracks via rewire

word. another thing you might want to consider is that you don't have to mix it down into pro tools. if it works for you, you can just leave it on the aux input track and when you bounce to disk, all...

Re: Digi 001 as a stand alone mixer

also, fyi, you CAN NOT use 2 digi001's on the same computer simultaneously, even with both of them hooked up correctly with their pci cards intact.

Re: Recording MIDI with free recorded audio

word. and anyway, it's much more fun that way. spend more time making music, less copying and pasting. for your own sake.

Re: Just had a thought.........10.3.4?

sure. if you have an extra power outlet handy. it could be done.

maybe just a pci card that would fit into the G5, a little cable running to a very compact digi001 pci card enclosure, and a power...

Re: Mini-DAC Too Loud

oops. yeah so i guess there are input sensitivity knobs on the back of the monitors that i never noticed and they were turned all the way up. so that should help a lot.

Mini-DAC Too Loud

Does anybody know of a way to make the volume coming out of the Mini-DAC not so damn loud? If I turned it to even the third dot it would probably rattle my windows. I just want to use the full range...

Re: Making Pro Tools LE sound like the Pros did it

i don't know about that. anything, no matter how "well" tracked, can benefit from a few panning and volume tweaks which would be mixing.

Re: Adding gear to the 001: external clock or DAC?

beg your pardon, guy. but you were acting as though there were some sort of d/a involved in bounce to disk that would clash with your monitoring d/a and give you an inaccurate mix. i was just trying...

Re: Adding gear to the 001: external clock or DAC?

i'm not sure where you're getting this idea from. there is no PT's d/a. you have your digital audio files in your project. they are what they are. they are digital. you can either listen to the...

Re: Adding gear to the 001: external clock or DAC?

no, nicer d/a will not help your bounce to disk. bouncing to disk doesn't affect anything at all, actually. it's digital and it stays digital and sounds exactly the same as it does when you listen to...

Re: Adding gear to the 001: external clock or DAC?

go with the apogee stuff. my digi001 with apogee a/d/a leaves me with absolutely no desire to upgrade to an 002r. and personally, as a thought, when i upgraded to a mini-DAC i noticed way more of a...
