Re: Avid S1...I am excited!

I just wanted to echo this sentiment. It would be really great if the Artist Transport could co-exist with the S1 series. +1 all around

Re: Temporary Markers

For temp markers or when I'm flagging an area I have a question about I'll often use *** or ### at the start of the name so it's easy to scroll through the markers list and see them in the crowd.

Re: Importing 16 bit audio from video to a 24bit session is 1/4 frame early

What kinds of video codecs are you receiving? And what kind of audio with them? I find that often when I receive H.264 video encodes they are about a quarter frame off sync with the guide audio. Even...

Re: Mac Mini 2018 for Pro Tools...?

Well, I know it's not a direct comparison, but if you want to compare to the performance of a trash can, my main mix computer is a 6-core trashcan mac pro and I fully max out my native PT ultimate...

Re: Mac Mini 2018 for Pro Tools...?

In my edit room I'm still using a 2011 mac mini server and it's honestly still holding up fine. A bit long in the tooth now, I'm actually looking at upgrading it to the new 2018 one, but it's held up...

Re: Music w/ lots of level under 30hz. Highpass across Printmaster out?

My thought is that there are better more effective ways of creating dramatic effect than by hammering frequencies in the 20hz-30hz range. I'd roll those off down there. Especially if you are doing a...

Re: Mixing Music for TV

As others have mentioned, in the US the loudness spec for broadcast is -24lkfs average, I believe Europe is -23lkfs. So know that is what your average loudness will be aiming at and mix...

Re: Destructive Record punch-ins slightly out of sync.

Yeah, I just upgraded from 12.4 which I had been on forever because it was so stable to 2018.10.0 and was surprised to find out my destructive record workflow was no longer working the same.

Re: Smooth Video on 3rd Monitor

I forgot to also mention, play your video from a separate hard drive from your project session. That helps smooth plackback as well.

In my setup I've got all my video files playing back from a...

Re: Smooth Video on 3rd Monitor

Get your client to send you H.264 but then convert it to ProRes Proxy or DNxHD36 and it'll run much MUCH smoother.

Or get the client to export out in those codecs and ship you the cut on a thumb...

Re: New -27 LKFS Spec

This is just pure speculation on my part, but I'm wondering if it's because half of Netflix's library is movies, and the other half is TV series, and those are generally delivered at two different...

Re: LKFS QC hits with different levels even though True Peak is the same?

Talk to somebody over at the QC house and send screenshots of your measurements and what software you are using to measure. Also check to make sure everybody is on the same page whether the...

Re: More Missing Audio Files that won't relink

I find copy media is a better solution than ‘force to target’.

‘Force to’ will only convert files that differ from the project settings, copy will move everything.

I’ve had issues where I’ve...

Re: AAF from Premiere works! (sorta)

Yeah it's a mess. I really don't like getting feature film AAFs from Premiere, it's an extra pain, has always been an extra pain, and Adobe doesn't seem to be making strides forward in making it work...

Re: LtRt AAX plugin

I agree, I like the sound of LoRo better than LtRt. I can't wait for LtRt to go fully extinct. But that being said I still have to deliver LtRt all the time for film and TV, it's definitely not a...

Re: OMFs from Premiere with MP3 music files have clicks in the music

OMFs are converting the audio files, and in most cases sample-converting from 44.1 to 48khz. Mp3's are lossy encoded and compressed mediums, they aren't proper work files, and because of that they...

Re: Video/Audio Mismatch question.

First make sure not only your frame rates are matched up but also your sample rates. Film and video operate at 48khz while music is traditionally 44.1khz. That might cause an offset if your session...

- Point to the correct folder with the OMF audio files in it
- in the Linking Options...
