Re: Aretha Franklin, RIP

Yup. The story goes the studio wanted to use the group that did the tune Car Wash but Aykroyd & Belushi both said they wanted Aretha.

Re: East West Spaces II Released

I wonder if they ever put the ir from Seattle's Benaroya concert hall in there? That's where the samples for the original EWQLSO sample library were recorded. Doug said they had it but when asked if...

Re: What to Purchase?-High School Music Teacher-Help!

Forgot about the headphones - they're a must to have for the players.

As to a control surface unless you'll be doing a lot of mixing down to a 2-bus a surface isn't needed, especially if all...

Re: Can't hear guitar when recording it (PT11, Babyface & Total Mix)

To clarify:
You can't hear the guitar as you're recording it?
Or are you just playing along with the other tracks to work out your guitar part (and not recording the guitar)? To hear the guitar...

Re: What to Purchase?-High School Music Teacher-Help!

I'm not sure what you mean by 'analog board' - please explain. If you're talking about some kind of mixing console that handles the audio from the mikes and feeds it to the Focusrite - sure it's neat...

Re: Air Con in the studio, advice please.

I don't know anything about ART's power conditioners just their audio gear. I tend to stay with brands that are known good in a specialty like this. Those brands being APC and Furman. Pricey but...

Re: iMac Pro and Virtual Instruments Drive

Amen to that. That way you're not stuck with a single failure point that would bring work to a halt. Have three separate drives which each backup/clone to three separate external drives so that way...

Re: Air Con in the studio, advice please.

You don't plug the air conditioner unit into the power conditioner. Instead you plug your studio equipment into the conditioner. Stuff like computer, drives, monitor screen would go into an ups. And...

Re: Stereo Aux Bussing and Gain Loss

The first is probably due to phase differences between the two sources. The second is probably due to pan law effects.

Re: Spectrasonics Announces Omnisphere 2.5

Do all the knobs and controls on your XS send MIDI CC data? There are quite a few on my Motif 7 that don't send anything at all. Very inconsistent implementation at least on the old keyboards -...

Re: Drag/Drop not working with VEPro 6 Server and SD3

What exact OSX version are the two of you running? While SD3 has a minimum requirement of OSX 10.6.x VEPro 6 wants a minimum of OSX 10.10.5 and therein lies the rub. PT10 is not compatible with...

Re: Xpand 2 midi mapping/channels Question

You need to make sure everything is talking on the same MIDI channel.

Re: Air Con in the studio, advice please.

Would help with the electrical noise. You wouldn't believe how dirty AC mains power is.

What Dave said. Do keep in mind that a power conditioner and an UPS are two different animals although some...

Re: Battery 4 Multiple Outs, is it possible?

Make sure you read carefully what I wrote. You can't route the same cell to both a direct output AND either the master out or an aux channel in Battery 4. That's what the op wants to do - route the...

Re: Battery 4 Multiple Outs, is it possible?

You can have a cell output to two outputs but only to the master and one of the busses. Also can't route to a direct out and any other output at the same time.

Re: Plugin Alliance Engl Amp 646 & 765 48hr Sale

The 646 has become my go-to for high gain sounds, particularly in the realm of Alex Lifeson's sound with his H&K custom Triamp. It's the closest I've yet to get to his sound without going to a Kemper...

Re: Spectrasonics Announces Omnisphere 2.5

I don't think it's a licensing deal at all but the way Yamaha synths talk back and forth to the outside world which is a nightmare. The only thing that seems to work well with any Yamaha synth/module...

Re: Plugin Alliance Engl Amp 646 & 765 48hr Sale

Actually the non-code price is $99 (which is $50 off the full price) and the codes are super simple and not tied to any one person. I could provide them but it might be frowned upon. I already had...

Re: Error Message

If the info in your sig file is correct then it could be because the PT version (which I have trouble decoding) you have is not considered compatible with your OSX version.

'Easy Fit' - you should get so lucky. Before you do anything installation-wise make sure you have every part that's supposed to be there. There's been a number of times where I've had furniture that...

Re: Problems Ajusting to PT 12 (frusterated)

Responded to your post over in the NI forum. Are you trying to run PT10 and PT12 on the same system and have access to the same plugins? Remember that PT10 uses RTAS (which NI dropped supporting some...

Not that I'm aware of. Maybe someone over on the Battery subforum over at the NI forums has an answer.
