Re: a cpu overload error occurred - help:=)

Actually there is nothing wrong with using Garageband for recording demos, qualitywise. It's so simple and easy to use that "it just works". It's just limited compared to the pro stuff. It also has...

Re: a cpu overload error occurred - help:=)

So the number of processors in use is how many? ...out of how many? Just curious.

Have you tried googling the forum...

Hi Cathrine, and welcome to the forum.

Have you done the general optimizations?
Mac OS 10.8 optimizations (http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/troubleshooting/Optimize-10-8)

The very first...

Re: Plugins showing up in AudioSuite but not insert menus??

Two things come to mind:
- some plugins are audiosuite only, no RTAS.
- some plugins will show up on a stereo track only in the "dual mono" dropdown menu.

Re: PT Dither Questions

If you record to a stereo track with a 16 bit dither on the last plugin on a 'master aux' in your 24 bit session, that file will have 24 bit words, but the last eight bits will be zeroes. So you can...

Re: How to create own drum kit?

Thank you Donald.
You're absolutely right.
I checked the documentation.
I was so shure I had done it before, but it must have been some other dum machine plugnin.
Sorry.

Re: Stuck or Hanging Notes

Well, the cause is simply that the triton is not getting a "note off" command, but the reason for this is hard to know.
All daws and sequencers have a "all notes off" command, PT too, but I cant...

Re: Playback won't start at Timeline Selection Point

Could it be that you have enabled (a very large) pre-roll on this session?
That would make it behave this way.
I assume that the edit insertion point doesn't move back to the start when you hit...

Re: How to create own drum kit?

You could also use Boom. Should be in your plugins list.
It's a beat box drum machine type VI, so it has sounds and beat patterns ready.
It should just be a matter of drag-and-drop to insert your...

Re: Master fader question

That's what I would do.
I think it's the best way.

I actually always route everything via a "sub master" so things like this can be fixed in a flash. It has several advantages for my workflow.

Re: Clip Gain Normalize

What's wrong with audiosuite normalize, except that you use a bit of disk space?
I can't really see what's the big difference.
Am I missing something?

Re: Meters won't peak while recording...EVER!!?!??

Well, what I meant to say was - as long as you're in pre-fader metering mode - the tracks own meter should not clip. Of course, if you boost it with the fader or plugin and send it to an aux or...

Re: Record arm without monitoring?

Just to be clear: It's just a matter of the track(s) fader changing posistion when you click rec to arm it (them).

Re: Record arm without monitoring?

You can also deselect "Link record and playback faders" in options menu, and then set the recording tracks fader to -inf when the track is record enabled, and it will snap back to where it was when...

Re: ''Record Mode''

I meant: if the small buffer works for recording it should also work for playback, but forget it.

Re: Problems with compressor on the voxbox

If you DO insist on keeping everything as is, then you could add another microphone that records the plosives better, and manually or magically let that track take over the parts you don't like. Just...

Re: Pro Tools LE 8 -- No sound, but strong input signal

You said you installed PT8 on a new laptop.
Are you shure you didn't install on a too new, incompatible OS version?

Re: Separate show/hide tracks for edit/mix windows

I agree.
I've been waiting for that since v. 5

Edit: I don't know about v. 11, I'm still on 9.

Re: Confused by input latency in Pro Tools

Why don't you try what I suggested?

I would think that interface manufacturers made shure that their gear always were in sync so that a signal going thru a cable from an out to an in lined up...

Re: PTLS Resolutions 512 v. 2048

Well, I agree they might sound different at different buffer size settings... and they might not. That depends on the complexity, plugins and outboard involvement among other things.

At least,...

Re: PTLS Resolutions 512 v. 2048

What you should do is use maximum buffer settings to let the software have as much 'work space' as possible, and deselect 'Ignore errors during playpack'.
The size of the buffer does not influence...

Re: Confused by input latency in Pro Tools

Hi.

Why don't you just check it for yourself, should be done in a second.
Just record something that's already on a (audio) track,...
