I have 2 PCM's 80's... and you cant beat them with a plug if you just want to talk pure audio quality. As far as plug reverbs, I really like the UA Realverb. Sucks a lot of power, but sounds good.

a: 4 - This one sounded best. It had crisp high end, but also had some body. Yes... Perhaps at mix time you would need to roll of some lows. But this guitar had the most full sound of the three....

PTLE has a "Low Latency" setting that you can use while tracking. The latency is only a few milliseconds when this setting is enabled... For me the latency is a non issue when it is this small.

Quaz- Yes there was noticable difference. The RME clearly sounded better. I tested the RME against the 001 using a single channel of recorded guitar. Also, the effects of better quality converters...

I have the RME... I have been very happy with the unit. Works well and sounds great. Also it is an 8 channel AD-DA converter whereas the Rosetta is only 2 channel. The RME is in the $1100...

Also you will find it more cost effective to go with an ATA drive vs. the SCSI variety. Seems the more expensive SCSI option will not yield any stronger results over the ATA drive for users...
