should work for any version of 7 onward

with no session open change the 48 to 44.1, fixing the miss-stamed metadata
make a new session at 44.1 and import

also works for sound design work to...

I would make an argument to upgrade to an v2 iLok if it is not one
you will need it for PT11 and some new/updated plugs

Slate has a deal on some of there plugs that include a v2 iLok

no,
the 001 is non-Aggregate-able and assuming you mean the original light blue mBox it is also a non aggregating interface

HD cards don't Aggregate or share I/O with Core Audio

And they have shared sense the OSX port do to the Hardware Access Layer (HAL)

HDX cards do the processing for AAX DSP plug-ins
AAX Native plugs are handled by the host CPU
if you are using the HDX card and interface for you I/O then all bussing and summing is handle but DSP...

the Heat option is not quality per say (given that it's a distortion generator at it's core) but sound texture and it is only available using HDX cards in 11

but you may not want it so it may not...
