Re: Offline commit/bounce paranoia

Probably 90% of my bounces are done off-line. The only thing I recommend is; listen to the bounce before passing it on to the client(at least the intro, a few random spots and the end) so you don't...

Re: Sometimes PT2018.7. won't play the session/tracks

Once in a blue moon, my transport does nothing. Closing and re-opening the session always fixes it here:o

Re: Desperate for ideas

What make/model system drive? Samsung 850 EVO 500GB(clone is also the same)
Were you coping to the system drive? No, was copying from a 1TB on USB3 to a 6TB on USB3(the 6TB is now unreadable on 2...

Re: Desperate for ideas

Well....things are going south in a hurry. I popped in the cloned SSD I did from 6 weeks ago. It booted right up, BUT.....PT still loaded veeeeeeeeeeery slow and would not open a session(got the old...

Re: Desperate for ideas

Just trying to avoid a huge process and don't understand why the entire PT install got hosed when it was completely closed at the time of the system death(by removal of power). I have a drive image...

Re: Desperate for ideas

I kinda figured that, but not sure there's a point to saving an image of a non-working drive:o

Desperate for ideas

Okay, HP Z820 12 core with Windows 10 Pro and HD/Native. Rig was working dandy but my UPS started beeping like crazy. I had time to save/close Pro Tools. System was copying a bunch of session files...

Re: Best Wireless keyboard and Mouse for PC?

Do you NEED wireless? I use an Avid PT keyboard(love the key labels) and it has extra USB ports on each side of the keyboard(perfect for connecting a mouse). I have no problems running that thru a...

Re: monitor controller setup problems

Indeed, the setup for your controller happens outside the box completely. Set Pro Tools to use the Scarlett and uninstall ASIO4ALL. Route the main outputs of the Scarlett to the inputs of the Big...

Re: Pro Tools 2018.7 Hangs at start - W10

Or try this:
Hold the SHIFT key while you open your session. This will make all plugins inactive(all settings remain). Assuming that allows the session to open, I would enable maybe the first 6 out...

Re: CPU spikes? NO! ***sigh*** yes.

Also, experiment with Hyperthreading on and off to see if either gives better performance(and its likely that one way will be better, but it differs from one machine to the next):o Then, look at what...

Re: C24 jittery fader

I think the answer is.....maybe:o. If its possible to get the unit flipped over, I would remove the bottom tin and re-seat the little connector for that fader, but before doing that, make sure that...

Re: Melodyne ARA alternative

Yes indeed:D A very handy compromise. I usually use the "Commit up to this insert" Option(Melodyne is always in slot A for me), but its functionally the same. 1 warning, remember to Commit/render...

Re: Dated Question- PT 9 Software anywhere?

You may have reasons for looking for PT9, but I would try to move up a bit higher. PT10 uses a newer file format(easier to trade sessions with current version users) and adds Clip Gain(an editing...

Re: Book Recommendations

+1 for Bob Katz' book. Back to PT, I remember the Pro Tools Ignite series being very well done so maybe see if they have a current version for 2018 or at least for Pro Tools 12:o

Re: Large delay/latency when using hardware inserts on Omni

Are you trying to track with hardware inserts? That may be hoping for too much:o I track with hardware comps and/or EQ's, but they are in-line(between the preamps and the interface) so they don't...

Re: ALL MIDI Output selectors set to None :-(

Yes there is. Its on one of the tabs in Preferences and it USUALLY defaults to ENABLED, save every 5 seconds and save the most recent 10 auto-save versions. Open the session folder and look for the...

Re: Toggle Edit/Mix Window on PC

Yep^^^ That's the Windows shortcut. Or consider adding a Presonus Faderport into your setup(original, or the new version) as it has buttons to switch back and forth(very handy), along with several...

Re: Anybody running HD/Native and HP Z820?

I rarely need more than 4-5 VI's(piano, organ, strings and pad) and piano encompasses grands, Rhodes and Wurly(mostly pop/country stuff here):o

Re: Large delay/latency when using hardware inserts on Omni

How much latency? HDN or HDX? Going out and back with an analog insert should be fairly short(buffer setting plus conversion time to analog and back):o

Re: Anybody running HD/Native and HP Z820?

No, I tend to keep things fairly simple with VI's and also do some swapping out(like tracking with MiniGrand, then swap it for KeyScape and Commit the track).:o

Re: Time Change Bit Me

The system clock(set in BIOS) and the clock in Windows need to match, so changing the battery is not a bad idea. while they USUALLY last 5 years, on 2 of my X79 builds(with the same ASUS...

Re: Protools Key studio with MAudio Keyboard

You probably can't at this point for a few reasons:
1-unregistered software? If you never registered, you won't have access to downloads.
2-most current computer operating systems won't work with...

Re: Upgrade Speakers?!?

Just my 2 cents, but I would wait and save more money as I don't think you may not get your money's worth at $1K. Consider, how well have you "learned" the HS80's? How big is your control room? And...
