Re: K which waves bundle should i get for under $500

I know you want to spend under $500.oo but I would frankly advise you to add $250 and pony up to buy the Gold bundle. It has just about everything you can even imagine and a bunch of cool effects as...

Re: I\'ve got Grace, now I need style

Limiting will do you no good once it has passed the A/D converter. You must use a hardware limiter before the conversion, so you don't get any clipped bits of information. There are several good...

Re: Advice on setting up a system

If you need sequencing and audio, then why not just get Cubase SX or Nuendo and save the money on buying two packages? The editing functions in both are easily as good as the protools editing...

Re: advice needed for purchase of a studio mic..

Just asking a bunch of folks, none of whom you really have any evidence of knowing what they're talking about, is not the way to shop for a mic. You will hear any number of "this is the best mic in...

Re: Need advice on recording Electric Guitar

I too have had better luck using a good condenser mic with a cabinet. But you should be able to get some good results with the 57. If you have another mic, you might try placing a mic behind the...

Re: levels

Ryan,
I forgot to answer your distortion question. (I think it's a question...) Anyway, in the digital domain, odb is clip. Unlike the analog audio world, where 0db is just a median, in the...

Re: levels

You're gonna need to use some mastering tools to get the overall level up to par with commercial cd's. Commercial cd's are generally compressed as hell to get the overall sound to seem louder. In...

Re: Digital Ticks

This sounds very much like a reclocking tick. This occurs when two digital devices are connected together and not properly clocked together. Basically, the processers keep attempting to reclock to...

Re: Bounce to disk - stereo or dual mono?

No. But you might want to have a little more flexibility than to have the stereo field locked to a stereo track. Therefore you may want to export in dual mono.

Re: Bouncing to Disk options not there

No. That's the resampling filter. If you're alreay in the correct sample rate, then you will only degrade the product by up and down converting. Leave it as it is for best quality.

Re: low mic signal

Sounds like you need a good mic pre-amp to me. The digi's inputs are not preamps.

Re: ProTools LE vs. Cubase SX

I can't say whether Cubase SX will run on a digi, though I can't imagine why it wouldn't. However, I use both these programs and can tell you a bit about the benefits of each. I use the LE/digi...

Re: Guitar and Bass TechHeads...Help!

One fix is a better guitar. The other is to simply replace the pickup with a single humbucker pickup. It's basically two pickups in one and can cancel out this kind of stuff. Also, you will find...

Re: Preamps / patchbays / signal integrity

It is absolutely fine to run phantom power through a patch bay. Anytime you plug/unplug a mic that uses phantom power, whether from a preamp, a mixer directly or through a patchbay, you should...

Re: How quiet can a computer Get??

All you have to do is cut a square through the wall that is small enough to cover with a switchplate cover on both sides. They make solid covers with no recepticle holes in them for just that kind...

Re: How quiet can a computer Get??

Once again, how much money are you willing to spend? Do you really want to spend $500 in cold hard cash to build a box that you can't guarantee will do the job, when you could simply move the darn...

Re: How quiet can a computer Get??

Why not just move the box into another room? It's a lot more effective overall if what you want is to record without computer noise, and a hell of a lot cheaper.

Re: How to stop Hum from a Flat Panel monitor?

You definitely should not be getting a buzz from an LCD monitor. If the buzz increases as you move to the monitor, then I would return the monitor. A ground loop should cause the humming problem...
