Pt11 motu16a i/o

I semi-recently reinstalled pt11 and completely wiped out the i/o settings. Now I cannot get it to work with my motu 16a.

If i open logic x, no i/o issues between software and interface.

Everytime I restart my computer and protools, I also have to select the audio playback engine(16A).
Is there a way to save my preferred engine so I don't have to do this every bootup?

When I've had ilok recognition issues, it's been because of a plugin that was part of a packaged download in which I only paid for one of the plugs. The SSL stuff has been buggy like this for me.

Audio playback engine

Pt 11 mac no longer working right

I had a session a couple weeks ago that went pretty well. Guy decided he wanted to do some edits at home so I connected an external hd, noticed it uad someone's old pt session(From different studio)...

Ran plugin installer now audio only comes hrough omputer

I ran the massey installer wizard for the demos, rebooted, power cycled the digi002 before powering on the computer.
Opened the sesison I had been working on this morning and now I cannot get audio...

I'm running a digi 002 firewire to my mac mini. My new owc external drive is also firewire. Is the order of connection within this chain important?
Should it be computer, hd, then interface?

I just bought a 2012 mac mini and it shipped with mavericks.
Apparently I need to downgrade to mountain lion in order to co-install protools 10/11. Has anyone else done this?

Installing protools

I'm preparing for the 10/11 install.

Should I partition my hard drive with osx and protools in seperate partitions or does that matter?
I will be recording on an external drive.
