Re: PT 9.03 Isis & searching for video files

Mike

I'd probably try starting a new session, then using Import Session Data to import all the audio tracks, but not the video track, from the original session.

Hope you get it working. Let us...

Re: SAN Users any advice

Hi Dennis

The SNS storage hardware, EVO, can be configured as all ethernet, no Fibre Channel required. It also works with Xsan over iSCSI or Fibre.

In the interest of full disclosure, I can...

Re: Anyone using iSCSI for session sharing?

So you're using a multi-volume configuration, instead of one big volume.

I think the facility you are working with does not have the appropriate...

Re: Anyone using iSCSI for session sharing?

That's an observant point, you can get into a situation with media on separate partitions. But that's usually avoidable with a SANmp volume configuration well matched to your workflow. And, really...

Re: Anyone using iSCSI for session sharing?

This is not exactly true. Nothing has to be copied except the Pro Tools session file. Multiple users can open session files that point to the shared media files. So the audio itself does not have to...

Re: Anyone using iSCSI for session sharing?

So two users can't write to the same Pro Tools session file. It looks like dynamicdrivepool is limited by the primary issue that only one user at a time can modify a file. That's no different than...

Re: Anyone using iSCSI for session sharing?

Are you saying that two users can write to the same Pro Tools session at the same time?

Re: Spinning beachball ?

Certainly disconnect any extra drives that are not being used.

Go to Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor, set pop up menu to All Processes, look for something... maybe a process hung up...

Re: Is there anything I can do to prepare?

Like Digi said, for best results start with a freshly formatted clean drive. Run some tests at the same bit and sample rate you will use on your session, and the same number of tracks. You may want...

Re: how to extract tempo from an audio file?

I'm with you on this Derek. It's not "off," it's behind by an intentional amount!

If the kick lands consistently square on the grid, a great drummer can manipulate the feel by how far on top or...

Re: 8.0.3 - It must be Christmas!

Hey! Don't call Tiger dead just yet! Just because he can't keep his pants zipped, he's in trouble with his wife, he crashed his SUV into a tree, and he's taking a break from playing ..... oh wait......

Re: Clicks and Pops During Record But Only Heard on Playback

What makes you think this?

What size are the drives and how much free space is available on each?

When were the audio drives last initialized/formatted?

Re: Supported Recording Volume Specs

I don't know if it's a good idea, Derek. I try to make sure that I CAN'T work from home! All my recording gear is stashed at various studios around town, none of it at my house. Therefore, if I'm at...

Re: Supported Recording Volume Specs

Thanks!

You'll be able to mount remote volumes, but the latency over the "public" part of the connection will kill your session. Try it out, though, I've done it-- successfully playing a session...

Re: Supported Recording Volume Specs

Any disk over 2TB is going to cause a problem, even if you partition it into volumes that are less than 2TB.

You'll find better performance if you slice off a couple 250GB LUNs on your Xserve to...

Re: Drum Overheads: 2 mono tracks or 1 stereo track?

I tend to make the choice based upon the particular project.

One of the primary factors being; if I'm working on an analog console I'll usually use mono tracks. If I'm on a control surface I tend...
