right don't expect a DSP chip in any ptle hardware (or it would be a HUGE step). The mbox 2 is just an upgrade, definitely not worth selling the mbox 1 for it. The midi I/O are pretty much useless...

yeah that's an usb powering problem. What is your configuration?
I think some user reccomand using an active usb hub. Wait for others experiences about this to be sure.

For me headroom is the difference between your peak and the 0 dBFS.
Here it's just that you can add up to 12 db gain which is more flexible and can avoid normalization in some case. But anyway...
