There is an actual Reference guide for PT8 in print. It is huge and will tell you everything you need to know. Just check Digis site. I think its ~$30.

using that one right now. So far so good. Way better than my WD drive. I can come back an hour later, hit the spacebar, and the music starts right up.

Definitely FireWire but I've also had bad luck with WD. just bought a OWC and so far so good.

I have problems as well,but I know it is my external hard drive which goes to sleep whenever it wants. Maybe you have the same issue? I am buying a new hard drive this weekend.

Yeah, WD actually said, " don't plug it into a surge protector or a battery backup." I'm thinking it is probably a good idea to try the FW400 port just to use a different cable and see what happens....

Hmmm. Not sure. I tested the MIDI to see if it was working in the IO section and the little blue arrow lights up but no sound.

Where is this check box you speak of?

no I never did. I've been having issues with my Western Digital drive. It will unmount itself or not respond after a while. I chalked it up to that, but in your case I'm not sure. It's only done...

pro tools 7.4 xp asks if you want to be able to read hfs+ so just say yes and then u can switch back and forth all day.
