Dude-great questions. Apologies for the long post coming up:

The crackle only happens in certain car stereos-but it tends to happen on loud parts of the song. Soft parts are fine.

IWhen recording guitar tracks, I make sure to get the highest level possible without peaking. But, the recording sounds like I've peaked (crackling sounds) when I play back a mix through a car stereo...
