Re: Dells Going Back, Getting an HP

I know for a fact that a pcmcia firewire bus card WILL work. As far as your magma and uad cards, if there's no availability for a pcmcia firewire bus, I suppose it's time for a mac.
Otherwise the...

Re: Dells Going Back, Getting an HP

Re: Dells Going Back, Getting an HP

For some reason, I do not believe that a pcmcia firewire bus or pc express card will not work, even if it was a core2 duo. The operating system (xp home or pro) governs this portion of handling...

Re: Best Laptops for PTLE

Believe it or not...the D820... it's set to default. Are you using the 002 factory or the rack version?

However, I do use a seperate account for protools, this profile is set for better...

Re: Best Laptops for PTLE

Use a pc card fw/800 bus card or combo(1394a+b) or a pc express fw/800(1394b), the "i-link" port you are referring to is the same as regular fw (1394a),which comes in two forms,4 pins (i-link, Sony's...

Re: Best Laptops for PTLE

Not sure about the D620, but It is a core 2 duo chipset though. It's not too far-off.

I base my Dell opinions on the fact that I started my IT career fixing Dell laptops, desktops and servers.

Re: Best Laptops for PTLE

I use the SIIG card primarilly because, I'd rather have devices connected to the laptop(ie..the 002 and the HDD) instead of one. I've read in the documentation that I could just use 1 firewire from...

Re: Best Laptops for PTLE

I can understand some folks being partial to MAC, I've used PT on both platforms. I would'nt be so quick to doubt Dell, for the fact that the only thing different from the Powerbook Pro and A Dell...
