Re: 5.1 file channel order

I’d eliminate Bounce to QT from your workflow. QT has long been deprecated and replaced with AVFoundation.

Re: 5.1 file channel order

Thanks for confirming (again). I was sure about the SMPTE thing, but that document being from this year, along with Paulo’s experience made me doubt it!

Avid’s left hand needs to meet their right...

Re: 5.1 file channel order

http://avid.force.com/pkb/KB_Render_FAQ?id=kA031000000P4di&lang=en_US

The last point is interesting. Maybe it is exporting Film order, but with metadata other apps which want SMPTE order it that...

Re: 5.1 file channel order

It exports SMPTE order, but Pro Tools will interpret this and put it to Film order when you re-import it.

Open it in Audition or another piece of software and you’ll see its SMPTE order.

Re: Importing 16 bit audio from video to a 24bit session is 1/4 frame early

I’ve never seen an option to put ProRes in an MXF in Premiere Pro, only DNxHD/HR amongst others. Where’s the ProRes option?

Re: Looking under the hood: PTU, No. of Tracks & Computer Data Transfer Rates

All 256 voices aren’t being sent to the PCIe card on HD Native. In HDX the mixer is on the card, so all voices are being sent to it. On HD Native that’s done on the CPU so all that’s being sent out...

Re: AJA Kona LHI does not work with Protools

There was a driver that enabled this (I think) but I wouldn’t suggest it. For Mac screens you want a graphics cards, this is video monitoring better suited for going to a TV

London Ambisonics : New ambisonic sound library

Mike Thornton at Production Expert has just published the interview I did talking about my new ambisonics library, London Ambisonics : Exteriors along with an exclusive deal available through the...

Re: DaVinci Resolve AAF problems

For simplicity I use the Pro Tools option and just don’t import the video. Glad you managed to get it across!

Oh and if you want to add handles, that’s under “Advanced” in the video tab, but still...

Re: XML support

IF you get everything right (I usually end up doing it) and the version of Resolve or Premiere goes in your favour, you can get very good AAFs out of both, but the stars do have to align!

Re: XML support

I’m not sure any DAW deals with XML, maybe Logic Pro. Avid would rather you use AAF, I don’t think MC deals with XML.

Get Resolve, it’s free and it’s great. Just don’t get the sandboxed version...

Re: What was the name of that apparently magical dialogue plugin?

I got it and used it, but found even on its most gentle settings it turned S into F etc. What did I do wrong!?

Went back to Pro-DS

Re: display timecode decklink

+1 for Video Slave. The card won’t do that on its own.

Re: DaVinci Resolve AAF problems

Stereo tracks will always be split to mono with AAF. It is annoying about the track renaming though.

Re: Best AAX DSP reverb available?

Very true, but I don't imagine it would be that hard to develop a small app (maybe even within PT) that went through and determined what your machine was capable of. It'd soon show a modern CPU has...

Re: Best AAX DSP reverb available?

Fair points, but you did say HDX is incredibly powerful, which unfortunately it's not.

As for talking about Exponential Reverbs, he's one of the only developers who talks about the limitations HDX...

Re: Best AAX DSP reverb available?

Even if he made AAX DSP versions he'd still have the huge native market out there, so that argument doesn't really stack-up.

Re: Best AAX DSP reverb available?

I have.

If HDX is more powerful, why does Michael Carnes state specifically one reason he never made his plug-ins for AAX DSP is because fewer instances would run?

A fully native system can run...

Re: Best AAX DSP reverb available?

Ah yeah, forgot it was in the interface. Even without that though I believe Studio One has lower roundtrip latency.

I still stand by the point that Pro Tools Ultimate is artificially limited, and...

Re: Best AAX DSP reverb available?

HDX cards are about 8 years old now so certainly don't have "insane" power. Also, you can run more instances of Exponential Reverbs purely natively than you can on an HDX system. Going between native...

Re: Best AAX DSP reverb available?

It may be elsewhere on this post, but if not certainly on this forum. Michael Carnes has stated he's not made AAX DSP versions because fewer instances can be run compared to what is possible...

Re: DNxHR No Longer Compatible .. ?

Well I'd be interested to see examples, but I think you're the only person I've ever seen complain about ProRes!
