Re: Axos JL Cooper surround panner

I agree. While the Axos panner has been really useful, and at a much better price point than the previous DigiDesign midi-based model, the hardware is not quite as robust. We often get some weird...

Re: Axos JL Cooper surround panner

Just did a quick test...
In the Pro Tools panner it works only in the traditional way, with no way to control height or size. But using the Dolby Atmos Panner plugin, if you click the settings...

Re: Updating 2018.2 to 2019.5

If you're on Mac, re-name the previously installed version "Pro Tools 2018.2", then install the new version and you'll have both. If you use Peter Gates' PT Prefs app, it is pretty easy to back up...

Re: pro tools set up?

You'll probably need a monitor controller of some sort. The 192's don't have any sort of built in volume control/speaker switching/talkback/cue/etc.

Re: AJA LHi picture drift

The Aja Gen10 definitely makes this a bit of a hassle. At a facility where I used to work, there was a higher end tri-level sync generator with simultaneous outputs for all of the standard raster...

Re: Driver For HD Native that is not mine

If you're running PT HD 12.6 or later, you'll need a DigiLink I/O license on your iLok as well to use the hardware.

Re: A problem w/ looping a region. Is it an ie. option in PT2018 that I have missed?

Yup, it was many years ago that I spent hours of frustration trying to figure out why this kept happening. This was back in the days of the big, raised keys on the keyboards, which made fat-fingered...

Re: A problem w/ looping a region. Is it an ie. option in PT2018 that I have missed?

When Keyboard Focus is on in the Edit Window, the "N" key toggles this on and off. I spent countless hours trying to figure out why this kept happening when the feature was introduced. It's pretty...

Re: Audio dropout while using pro tools ultimate demo

Just a thought, but is it possible any of the plugins are in demo mode? Maybe when you updated to the latest versions the autos didn't get updated? Plugins in demo mode have been known to cause...

Re: Courser-line should be automatically tell the transport where to start?!

There is a preference for "Edit Insertion Follows Scrub/Shuttle". If this ism checked, and Link Timeline and Edit Selection is on, then it should behave the way you want.

Re: Anyone tried external SSD for Pro Tools sessions?

I've had good experiences with the external Samsung T5 SSDs. I ran a 400+ track HDX2 session off of one when I was having memory issues on an older MacBookPro and needed to disable Disk Cache. It...

Re: Viewing multiple automation lanes on one track

Little tiny arrow to open automation lane, then + sign to add more. For Pan, there is an All Pan Parameters options which is especially nice for surround planners. This might be for Ultimate only,...

Re: PT WaveEx Audio Output

Just remember you are outputting the channels that actually go to your speakers (one channel per speaker), so the motion/panning/spread will already be baked into those channels. Good Luck!!

Re: Inactivating Master Track

Good point. I sometimes put a Durrough or other meter on the master. But, since I work to picture most of the time, I have to be careful with un compensated latency that would affect sync to...

Re: Inactivating Master Track

Using an Aux track as your "Master" is actually a pretty common, and preferred, way to do it. The inserts on the "Master Fader" are post-fader, so if you automate a fade out on your master fader,...

Re: Surround Reverb Plug-In’s

One thing the Exponential reverbs do that Altiverb doesn't, is calculate the early reflections based on the panning of the input, and create different ERs for each output channel of the reverb. This...

Re: PT WaveEx Audio Output

It sounds like you have 21 actual, discrete output channels (19.2). So however many axes and overlapping output paths/assignments you have created to address those speakers channels in various ways,...

Re: Using Sonnet chassis with FW800 to Thunderbolt adapter

If you're thinking of using this in reverse, i.e. to plug an external TB chassis into a firewire port on your Mac, it's not gonna work that way. I may be misunderstanding what you are trying to do,...

Re: PT WaveEx Audio Output

I just got done doing a 43 channel 4D theater. I ended up outputting mono files. For the main show I was able to deliver 43 split mono files, but for load and exit music and some of the other...

Re: keyboard modifiers for tools...

A modifier key for TCE Trimmer would be fantastic, as that is a tool that I only ever use once, then want to go right back to the standard trimmer or smart tool. I find it cumbersome, and a lot of...

Re: How to back up custom PT app shortcuts

THIS^^ This works for me on Sierra (10.12.6) & PT|U 2018.7. I have quite a lot of custom shortcuts, so this would be a real PITA if there wasn't an easy way to backup and restore them.
