Make sure you use the PCI slot farthest away...

C'mon, this is Digital Performer.
I'm thinking it is version 2.5 running on a 9600.
I have 2.5 and 3.0 but 3.0 runs on os9.
This is clearly DP2.5

Very simple answer to your problem.
I use the original Mbox on 3 computers.
a G4 a G5 and an intel Core 2 Duo.
Simply wipe your hard drive and install 10.5.8 and PT 8.0
and the mBox1 will work...
