Re: PT 2020.12.0 Constantly crashing

Well Howdy.

What do you mean by crash? What happens exactly what exact errors do you see if any?

Are you doing anything when this crashes? Like saving a session or bouncing a mix?

What is in...

Re: MacPro Late 2012-Is it worth upgrading the Video Card?

Ah Waves, v12, yes well... it was not clear why you were asking. If you don't have a reason to need to upgrade, and especially if technology cautions the answer is "no". But if you need v12...

If...

Re: Delay Compensation and HW Buffer issues

I'm also one of those folks who just don't like having this on in case it also add a click/glitch you miss... and for any troubleshooting it's important to make sure it's off so you see AAE errors...

Re: Delay Compensation and HW Buffer issues

Well some DUC friends (me) completely misread the initial post as being monitoring latency, sorry about that.

So to be clear Pro Tools standard compensates for IO buffer latency. It does it all...

Re: Delay Compensation and HW Buffer issues

Yes, unfortunately this is a well known issue. And if the OP has been battling CPU errors may have turned it on.

Re: Delay Compensation and HW Buffer issues

Up the top of every DUC web page under "help us help you" is the optimization guide, also a part of the Pro Tools install documentation. Do every last thing.

Transiting through the IO buffer on...

Re: Pro Tools Not Recording Playlist Takes

If you are loop recording do you have "Automatically Create New Playlist when Loop recording" enabled in preferences?

Did you try trashing prefs? ... be careful that will clear this setting. But...

Re: HD | Native card not recognized by Catalina?

While I appreciate Chris' (Southsidemusic) huge experience here, I've never seen the problem he mentions, but assuming even if this is happening. Just removing the HD Native card will prevent any...

Re: MacPro Late 2012-Is it worth upgrading the Video Card?

No I no longer have a Mac Pro. I've mostly stayed in touch with upgrades for NVMe support reasons. That to me is one of the most impressive reason to update these systems. Heck I almost purchased one...

Re: MacPro Late 2012-Is it worth upgrading the Video Card?

You give lots of info *except* what macOS you are running now... so kinda impossible for anybody to comment.

Are you already running NVMe drives? Booting from them? Running APFS? Want to? Do you...

Re: CPU vs RAM (Windows)

... and for around the price of good SATA SSDs you can get good M.2 SSDs. So in any new built M.2 really is the way to go. It's not just errors, it's startup time, backup time and general fastness of...

Re: CPU vs RAM (Windows)

Good performance of Pro Tools is not just about CPU and RAM. There are many factors, including fast disk, I would not want to use a PC that did not have one or more M.2 PCIe/NVMe SSDs to start with....

Re: What limitations should one expect with a box 3 in 2021?

This posts like many of your others do not even make sense. If you trying to get back into Pro Tools after being out of it for decades you need to realize how lost and confused you are and stop with...

Re: Delay Compensation and HW Buffer issues

If you can't track at anything lower than 512 buffer then you are dead in the water... nothing compensates for that IO buffer latency while tracking.. time travel has not been invented. This is basic...

Re: Pro Tools First Data Loss

Good call. I didn’t need to mention I have Garage Band and Logic Pro running great on my M1 MBP (and Intel MBP). Apple does a great job with building an easy to use and productive personal DAW with...

Re: Pro Tools First Data Loss

Yes but this sort of horrible instability does not seem rare for Pro Tools First cloud projects. There are hundreds of threads on DUC about how flakey this stuff is. I would not be trusting any work...

Re: HD | Native card not recognized by Catalina?

Just in case you have insanity that some drivers get in Pro Tools. Try changing the buffer size to some small value. And then immediately set it the largest value you can... now try doing stuff and...

Re: HD | Native card not recognized by Catalina?

OK focusing on the ULN-2. Just go back to absolute basics to get this working.

(Avid HD Drivers have *nothing* to do with anything once you are using the ULN-2)

Start Pro Tools without a...

Re: HD | Native card not recognized by Catalina?

This seems to be going around in circles.

If the Omni is dead and there is no interface present even if the HD Native card is otherwise fully working then you can't have that selected as the Pro...

Please stop spamming DUC with stuff like this. Troll like behavior... maybe a moderator can delete.

You are shotgunning random questions all across DUC. Asking beginner level questions interspersed with stuff from some old experience, like above. You ask beginner questions and experienced folks try...

Re: What limitations should one expect with a box 3 in 2021?

No version of HD ever "came with" a low end consumer interface like an Mbox.

Why are you even looking at an old past-end of support life Mbox, hopefully not because you think you want to run...

Re: Need some HDX upgrade advice

Nice info, IIRC there was some discussion online at some time (on DUC?) talking about using a Sonnet Ethernet card for AVB. I just wanted to flag it as an issue that would need to be researched......

I'm going to guess you have a file access permissions issue.

For starters check Security & Privacy > Full Disk Access
