Re: PT 2019.6 crashes every time while loading VocALign Project 3

What exact version of the plugin are you trying to use?

Update to the latest VocALign Project plugin (or whatever they claim is compatible with your version of Pro Tools). Trash prefs. Try again....

Re: new PC: will PT performance jump?

Why are you asking us for reassurances? Nobody here has any real idea what is causing your problems. *You* need to do a lot more work.

But... given how broken Pro tools 11/12 etc where.... If you...

Re: ProTools on SSD Drive, PT files and instruments on 2nd (non SSD) drive?

Please let other folks here know how you go. Again I want to warn, that I no longer have a Mac Pro and am not doing this myself. (wish I had one now).

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

A Samsung 970 Evo draws ~6W-10W max. @ 3.3 V and usually a lot lower than that. So y'all got heaps of power to drive that.

Thermal throttling, you want to pay attention to. These are not drives...

Re: ProTools on SSD Drive, PT files and instruments on 2nd (non SSD) drive?

No two are not necessary. Install one and it will use a PCIe 2 x 8 lane slot in a Mac Pro and give you a PCIe 3 x 4 lane at the M.2 adapter.

Sorry I cut and pasted the abbreviated links from...

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

Yes but my point was if you want performance in a Mac Pro Cheesegrater classic look for a switched adapter card that does the PCIe 2 to PCIe3 lane aggregation. I don't think that Sonnet card does...

Re: ProTools on SSD Drive, PT files and instruments on 2nd (non SSD) drive?

Stop looking at SATA drives. Get NVMe drives. Remove what is taking up PCIe slots now and install them there. Start with understanding the difference between SATA and PCIe/NVMe drives. Or wait until...

Re: ProTools on SSD Drive, PT files and instruments on 2nd (non SSD) drive?

"Looking at SSD" tells us nothing that useful. What *exact* model SSD? SATA or NVMe makes a huge difference.

SATA drives in the internal bays only run at Slow SATA II (e.g. 3G not 6G speeds).

Oops sorry forgot to reply earlier. The card that gets almost all the attention is http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/mac_pro_nvme_pcie_cards/Syba_Dual_M2_NVMe_PCIe_MacPro_Review.html and see all...

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

I would not want to "RAID" these SSDs. I'd suggest leaving NVMe SSDs in nice JBOD configurations, simple to understand and easy to use.

This card is a PCIe 3 card, and the claimed performance is...

Re: ProTools on SSD Drive, PT files and instruments on 2nd (non SSD) drive?

What actual problem are you trying to solve? slow app startup? slow mac boot? slow session startup? slow backup? AAE errors? What exactly? How much budget do you have? What is your budget?

Are you...

Re: Clarett 8 Pre Issues

Turning off low-latency monitoring turn on Pro Tools software monitoring, that is all that does. So yes then naturally you can hear stuff via Pro Tools.

Re: 32 bit aax plugins in Pro Tools 1st?

Nope. Nope., and Nope. Pro Tools First, like Pro Tool is now a 64-bit application.

And not just any AAX plugin can run in Pro Tools First. It has to be ones you purchased through the Avid Store.

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

Your Mac Pro has a PCIe 2 not PCIe 3 slots and the NVMe m.2 card you have is PCIe 3. You are running it at half speed. You need to look for a switch based PCIe 2 x 8 adapter card that switches down...

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave

Is your SATA Evo 850 running via a SATA III adapter? The native mobo SATA II throws away some decent sequential drive performance.

Enable Trim. It’s natively supported on Mojave for third party...

How are you...
